Definition of a freelancer according to the Translators and Interpreters Guild :

„ In addition, applicants to the Translators Referral Service (TRS) or the Referral Service for Interpreters (RSI) must sign a statement that 90% of their translation/interpretation-related income comes from work they perform themselves. This is intended to restrict business in the Referral Services for assignment to true independent contractors as opposed to agencies or individuals who do a great deal of subcontracting (i.e., "quasi-agencies"). ”
