Hello, I would like to import a personal brain version 5 file into Translucid,
how do I do this? Does the import and export feature of Translucid only work
with version 3 of PersonalBrain?
Sincerely thank you.
First, thank you very much for the great product! I used version 1.6
and was very pleased by that. Now I set up version 1.75. I didn't
have any difficulties to install and configure it, but I found some
strange things about file attachment.
1. When in the edit mode file is attached it gives message: "Error
attaching file". But when I get back to the page view, file is there
attached and accessible.
2.If I try to upload file that was already uploaded, it gives the
same message, but does not rewrite file . I looked at the code in the
EditModeWorker.class.php, and if I understand it right, in this case
it should give "The file is already attached" message.
3.I restricted type of files allowed for upload (only MS Word). When
I upload an excel file, it says again "Error attaching file", and in
your code message for this case is "File format not accepted. You
uploaded a file of type:".
Could you please help me fix this? All other functions work work with
no problems.
Thank you in advance,
Misha
I'm currently trying to run translucid 1.75 under EasyPHP 2.0b1.
Everything is fine, only problem is: When I click menu entries (other
than the default startpage) the browser gives a 404. Like other people
already said, manually insterting a "?" into the URL (host.com/page1
becomes host.com/?page1) makes the link work. Is this a known bug, is
there a fix or solution or is it likely to be fixed in the near future?
I tried the suggestions that were given here, like editing the
AllowOverride Setting (everything but "None" will result in a internal
server error). Also, the mentioned .htaccess files are all in place.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
Other than that, lucid is really a nice tool!
Hi Emilio,
Sorry for the lack of response during the last weeks but with the work
on transLucidonline and other projects i had my plate a little overly
full.
Internal server errors are nasty because you have to guess what the
root cause was, the server doesn't provide anything really specific.
In our case, I have seen an internal server error when the Rewrite
module was not enabled under Apache. Could you make sure that it is or
ask your web-host whether you are allowed to use it?
All the best,
Bjoern

Hi Alessandro,
Thanks for your post. Have you made sure that the .htaccess files are
placed in all directories, in particular the root of your transLucid
installation? It is responsible for channeling the URLs to the
transLucid application correctly.
Let me know how it goes and if i can be of any further support.
All the best,

Hi Bjoern,
I've encountered the same problem with my installation of translucid
1.75. I'm using opensuse with apache2 and php5, and the module rewrite
is enabled.
This is a test installation at my home, and is available only when my
pc is working. at:
www.popote.homelinux.org
I've created some pages, such as "intro" and it works with
www.popote.homelinux.org/index.php?intro or also with
www.popote.homelinux.org/?intro but doesn't work with
www.popote.homelinux.org/intro
I don't have tried a solution yet, but found various articles about
the setting AllowOverride in the httpd.conf file which must not be set
to None.
I'll try it today and report if I find a solution.
I hope this helps.

Hi Thomas,
Thank you for your post and trying out transLucid.
To help us troubleshoot your installation, would you be so kind and
send us the following information:
* transLucid version you tried to install (latest version is 1.75,
downloadable from http://www.pantha.net/download/ )
* URL to your transLucid installation
* PHP version and webserver you are running on
?
I was recently notified by someone else that also received a blank
page. As far as i am aware, this does point to a permission issue but
I might be wrong about that. Could you nonetheless check another time
that all (sub-) directories of userdata and files are set to 777
permissions?

Hi Ahmad,
Only saw now that you also posted your question to the Yahoogroup. Let
me know if my answer by e-mail to you is of help. I am sure we can
make transLucid work and yes, I believe that there is still some
permission issue at works.

Bjoern

Hi,
when I install Translucid, I go thru the three steps allright, but
after the final step the page blanks.
When I refresh the page, I get the first installation page again but
the fields are all filled in.
Note: I don't use a database and file properties (chmod) are 777.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thomas
Hi Etienne,
Let me forward this to our tech team. We are running transLucidonline in a PHP5
environment now as well - even though the original core application was
developed
towards PHP4 for greater compatibility with webhosts - so it couldn't be that I
believe.
This does look as if there was some setting overwriting the .htaccess file we
use to pass
on the URL information to the PHP application (http://www.test.com/Members
internally
calls the page-id for that page-title).
Will let you know once i have more info on a potential solution. Would you be in
the
meantime be able to post us the URL of your site ?
All the best,
Bjoern

Hello everybody,

The "attach URL" feature actually does not modify the URL of the page
itself but is meant to add related information to the page, in this
case the URL to a website. The website can then be navigated to by
clicking on the link in the viewmode layout.
We noticed that the version we released did not contain the URL in the
website layout that visitors see. I believe that your confusion stems
from there. We have already made the update to include the attached
URL so that visitors may see it and will update the package you can
download from http://www.pantha.net/download/ accordingly. We will
notify you once that's been completed.
As i saw that you modified the default template that we "ship" along
with the open-source release, you could also add the below code to
your template and upload back to your server.
---
{if $currentnode.url}
link: <a href="{$currentnode.url}" target="_blank"
class="url_link"><img s
rc="{$THEME_DIR}images/external2.gif" border="0" />
{$currentnode.url|truncate:100}
</a>
{/if}
---
Wherever you will place this code-snippet, it will display the URl
that you attached to the page.

Thank you for this detailed description which will help us to track
down this bug. We already put it into our bug-tracking system and i
gave it the highest priority to be fixed as transLucid. We will
integrate the fix into the next release of the open-source version of
transLucid.

Hi Emilio,

Yes, yes, yes! Thanks for the reminder. The transLucid release v1.75
DOES have what we coined "human-readable URLs" included. Have a look
at this URL http://pantha.net/sandbox_public/Spaghetti%20bolognese .
The Sandbox http://www.pantha.net/sandbox/ runs on the latest version
which you may download from http://www.pantha.net/download/ .
Hope this is helpful.

Thanks Dear for so descriptive response,
Here is my web site
http://www.pain-free.eu/
I am using latest version 1.75
I think i got the problem.
Menu Items are not properly sorted out manually if we are using MySQL database
either on windows(xampp) or Linux. Means menu items does not move updown on
customer side if we sort them on admin side(children section) with little
arrows. and system does not give any error message. even we can see that they
move with each click on admin side only not on live side.
When i disable my database and start using file system than it start working
again.
Many Thx Bjoern and i really like transLucid.

You are correct, the up/down arrows should allow you to manually sort
the pages and put them in the order you choose to. Which version of
transLucid did you install if i may ask?
Could you by any chance send the URL to your public website or did you
install it on your local machine? Any error messages or simply nothing?

Right, yes. We have not yet updated the documentation based on the
latest version of transLucid we released. The edit menu is now part of
the page, no need to switch back and forth between editing text and
page structure of a transLucid site.

Dear all,
I am not sure if i am on right place to place bugs or my problems on this group.
Please let me know if this group founded for a different perspective.
I got one more problem/bug,
When i attach a URL with a page it does not work. Not on Linux neither on
Windows.
e.g.
http://www.pain-free.eu/How%20PainStopper%20Works
for above page i added a url "HPSW"
http://www.pain-free.eu/HPSW
and when i access this url it just shows empty search results and index page.
I tried on pantha sand box. I created page "test 1" and add url "t1"
http://www.pantha.net/sandbox_public/t1
above page also does not work
Many Thx in advance,

You are correct, the up/down arrows should allow you to manually sort
the pages and put them in the order you choose to. Which version of
transLucid did you install if i may ask?
Could you by any chance send the URL to your public website or did you
install it on your local machine? Any error messages or simply nothing?

Right, yes. We have not yet updated the documentation based on the
latest version of transLucid we released. The edit menu is now part of
the page, no need to switch back and forth between editing text and
page structure of a transLucid site.

Dear all,
I got little problem with sorting "Menu Items"
I do not want to sort by ID, Name or last modified.
If i go to home page in admin edit page and do sorting with little arrows in
"child pages" section on my left system should arrange the menu items
accordingly but it did not.
Even i can not see the "Edit Menu" button on top left corner of page as it is in
pantha documentation
http://www.pantha.net/userdata/Image/documentation/navigate_switchtonodeediting.\

Really need help as i am totally new to this CMS.
Many Thx in advance,

Apparently, all issues we had a while ago with installing under
Windows have been fixed.
The only thing - when using the latest release v1.75 (which i am going
to talk more about soon) that you can download from
http://www.pantha.net/download/ - is that you would need Perl
installed and will need to make changes to the .cgi files in cgi-bin.
XAMPP has a Perl installation coming with it.
The steps for setting up the cgi-bin on windows in addition to the
description in the README in that directory, are:
1. Locate the perl interpreter. (perl.exe in windows)
2. edit the 2 .cgi files and change the first line to reflect the perl
interperter.
Example : if your perl.exe is C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe then the first line
must read #!C:/Perl/bin/perl -w
Hope this helps.
All the best,
Bjoern

Hi Willem,
Most of us are now on Mac OSX machines but I know that one of our
developers has a Windows machine and had to make certain local
adaptations to get it running.
I'll ask him to get back to you.

Hi y'all,
On first glance translucid looks very promising to me. ( for my purpose
anyhow ) so I'm going to give it a serious shot. I liked to instal
translucid under windows XP ( with the 'xampp for windwows' package )
But I get an error on first start at localhost. Is installation under
WinXP possible anyhow? And if yes what might i be doing wrong or would
you recommend another wampp package?
Thx in advance Willem
Congratulations, it looks really slick, especially the editor.
I must say, it is also nice to meet the virtual team on the aboutus page !
Good luck !

Onderwerp: [translucid] transLucidonline.com preview now in-progress
Hello transLuciders,
I wanted to let everyone here know that we have started previewing
transLucidonline - the hosted solution of
transLucid.! This final phase, before making it available to everyone
else, is to solicit more feedback on what we've created and to ensure
it's the most useful product for people looking for an easy way to
create and maintain website content.
I invite you to sign up for the preview under this URL
http://www.transluc <http://www.translucidonline.com/preview-signup/>
idonline.com/preview-signup/
With transLucidonline, we take care of the hosting for you and
upgrading to new transLucid versions. More features and layouts will
automatically be available with every new release to your site. We
also allow hosting of your domain name which you can link with your
transLucidonline site.
We will continue to release open-source versions of transLucid for
people who are able to run their own servers. In fact, the next
release v1.75 is now on Sandbox (http://www.pantha.
<http://www.pantha.net/sandbox/> net/sandbox/) and
will soon move onto transLucidonline. We are currently toying with the
idea of making some features exclusive to transLucidonline - even if
only for a certain period of time - to encourage joining the site and
supporting our development efforts although we haven't agreed on a
definite plan of action for this yet.
All the best,
Bjoern
