Dear All:

I installed TrialDB with files downloaded from:
http://ycmi.med.yale.edu/trialdbdownloads/Current_Release/TrialDB_Webfiles.zip

and I found it's an older version than the version on
https://ctmsts.med.yale.edu/act_db

Could please tell me how to get the latest version? It's very helpful to our
work.

Thanks!

Liang

Hello,
we are trying to install TrialDB and here is what I've got from our DBA:
I can't open the compressed HTML file TrialDB.chm. But I tried to run
trialdb_tables.sql. The developers have bad practice in creating this script:
1. Some system-generated constraint names and LOB names have hardcoded numbers
in them, e.g. "LOB(CORRESPONDENCE_TEMPLATE) STORE AS SYS_LOB0000035187C00002$$",
or "ADD CONSTRAINT SYS_C002307". On one occasion, when I ran the script, the
constraint name already exists in my database used by another schema so there
was a name collision.
2. "USING INDEX TABLESPACE SYSTEM" should be changed to "USING INDEX TABLESPACE
ACT_PROD".
I can't find create user script. But reading the DDL script, I know the username
should be act_prod. There's no create sequence script. But I can extract them
out from trialdb_tables.sql script based on the trigger code. It would be nice
if the script is explicitly provided.
There's no list of minimum required privileges. But I think the following will
do:
create user act_prod identified by <password> default tablespace ACT_PROD
temporary tablespace temp quota unlimited on ACT_PROD;
grant create session, create table, create view, create sequence, create trigger
to act_prod;
create user repuser identified by <password> default tablespace ACT_PROD
temporary tablespace temp;
grant create session to repuser;
Could you please help us in resolving these problems.
Thank you,
Dragan

prefill default values - so the questions have to have default values, then the form check box will need to be set in the interface (studies form, where the forms are selected for the study on the right there is a subform with a list of forms and a checkbox i think it is the studies-clusters table..

Luis/Prakash,
Thank you for the quick response. Following your suggestions, I
got passed the .Net version issue and able to get to the login screen.
Upon login (picked up an existing user from USERS table), I'm getting
the following error.
It looks to me there is a mismatch between the QUERY in
TrialDB.aspx.vb and the database view definition.In STUDY_USERS_VIEW,
the user privileges are compressed in one column "STUDYIDUSERID", but
the query is written with the assumption they're individual columns in
the view.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Regards,
Raj K

Luis/Prakash,
Thank you for the quick response. Following your suggestions, I
got passed the .Net version issue and able to get to the login screen.
Upon login (picked up an existing user from USERS table), I'm getting
the following error.
It looks to me there is a mismatch between the QUERY in
TrialDB.aspx.vb and the database view definition.In STUDY_USERS_VIEW,
the user privileges are compressed in one column "STUDYIDUSERID", but
the query is written with the assumption they're individual columns in
the view.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Raj K

The latest version we are using is the Visual Studio 2005. It is bit by bit the same as our production-Oracle one.

To use  this one you need to do the following:

-          SQL server 2005 (any version from Express through Enterprise). We rely upon SQL server schemas and synonyms to share the same code as our production one on both the Web and Access.

-          The access client is exactly the same bit-by-bite to our production one and will work without any modifications; but you will need Windows integrated security for every user.

-          You need IIS, with .NET 2.0 enabled

To configure your system to work properly:

-          You need to change all ADMINVAR to your project settings

-          Verify IIS folder security for reports; extracts, etc.

To the best of my knowledge, the data warehouse system used  for some reports have not yet been converted to run in SQL server

It appears that you are using the .net 1.1 libraries to compile the product. You should be using .net 2.0 (and Visual Studio ’05 service pack 1_.  I see the word “Partial Class winmain” in the .vb file – Partial classes did not exist in ’03.

Edit the Global.asax file and change the line
<%@ Application Codebehind="Global.asax.vb" Inherits="act_db.Global" %>

Our policy is quite different. We simply hand all of the study’s data to them. Once they have the data, and they verify that they are able to work with it, they can do what they want with it, and how they choose to archive it is their responsibility.

If, however, you are happy to archive the data off-line for this site, phrase the agreement to reflect this as succinctly and briefly as possible.

One of our sites is wanting us to provide a statement that we will keep an archive of the study for 10 years after study completion.  Does anyone have a template of the language that you are using on behalf of your institution that you can share?

The beta version that is currently available on our test site uses .NET 2.0., and I’ll put it out when it’s stable- there is a new build every day, based on the bugs we catch/fix, and the features that are requested by our team. The documentation for this version is obviously lagging way behind- the old Web user’s guide is almost totally obsolete, but we’re holding off until the interface becomes reasonably stable.

We held off on the move to 2.0 for a long time, mainly because of some idiocies on Microsoft’s part – converting a 1.1 Web application project to a 2.0 Web site project was a major nightmare, and Microsoft finally fixed the problem by adding a Web Application Project template in VS ’05 Service Pack 1, which also adds an edit-and-continue that is actually far superior to the one that has long been available as part of Visual Basic for Applications (because it lets you crawl up and down the call stack, so that if the bug was three subroutines levels above where the bug manifested, you can fix it at the correct spot and rerun the code without stopping; you can even fix code in libraries in a multi-project solution.

I can only answer about that error. It is only Prakash that can answer
about the .NET version.

I have no global.asax in the root of my application. Try removing those
files (global.asax, global.asax.res and global.asax.vb) and see if it
works. I am sorry I cannot be of more help, but I have never encountered
this error before. Maybe someone who has can say more.

Make sure you have global.asa in the root directory of your application
(as far as I can see, that directory would be
D:\HOSTING\MEMBER\MANTENAR\CURRENT_RELEASE\ACT_DB)

Fldwidth 255, I believe, specifies the MAXIMUM field width rather than the absolute (ie., the field’s contents are not padded with spaces- this is like VARCHAR() in SQL rather than CHAR(). So it should not do any harm to SAS imports – but correct me if I’m wrong on this.

Subject: [trialdb] Field Width in Extracts SAS Files

Good afternoon!

I noticed this piece of code was added to the 2006 version (as opposed
to the 2004 version):

If (Datatype = "S" Or Datatype = "T") Then fldArgs("FLDWIDTH") = 255
'change all to use the 255 as fldwidth doesn't make sense And fldwidth =
"0"
'note: In TrialDB, widths are not set, since the maximum width is used
anyway for EAV fields

This makes all string and text fields in the SAS program 255 characters
long. In addition to the EAV strings and texts, this also affects
non-EAV data, such as PATIENT_ID, which is string and 15 characters long
in the database. Does this change make sense when dealing with non-EAV
data?

Another question is: was there something seriously wrong with the
widths taken from the metadata that you had to switch to the 255 fixed
width?

Thank you,

Mihai Virtosu

Thanks for the comment -- some of the SAS programmers requested it as the Metadata Length was not set for many of the fields but I am in the process of modifying this in the current version --
so that Patient_id for example is correct and the other non-eav fields are correct -- thanks

We’re getting rid of pools because discussions in our group confirmed their overall uselessness in the new system – they are insufficiently granular. The only reason to have pools is that people used to enter patients into the system and then forgot to enroll them into the study, so that these guys were in limbo, and the only way to fetch them back was through some kind of categorization.  In the new system, which you can beta-test on

http://128.36.123.103/act_db/login.aspx

the demographics and enrollment info are two different tabs/panels on a single Web page, and there is no possibility of saving one kind of data without saving the other (the system automatically performs an insert into the patient_study table when you save a new patient’s demographics, and makes that patient the current patient).

Pools are now being superseded in favor of projects- in circumstances where you have a set of patients who can be in multiple studies, you create a project, add studies to the project, designate one of the studies as a core study (to store common information that is needed by the other studies- this is accessible from other studies), and add demographics only within the core study. When a new study is added to the project, you can bulk-enroll multiple patients from the core study into one of these studies.

Sorry for the  short post…

If I have oncology pool rights and put a patient in a study, will someone else with oncology pool rights ( but different study access) be able to see my patient and their demographics?

Phillip
