Subject: MSN problems with Trillian Pro - Needsome help please

My MSN account on Trillian Pro just will not work at all. All it does
is blink on and off. I am so frustrated and just do not know what to
do to resolve this.

Need help please. I have Hotmail, Yahoo, Aim/Aol one's and they all
work beautifully, so what's with the MSN nightmare I'm having here?
Anybody have a clue?

Thanks and appreciate any and all help, referrals and recommendations.
  I'm fresh out of ideas.

Incidentally, not having much luck at all with Trillian plug-ins
either and I have the latest paid-for edition of Trillian Pro. Go figure.
Anybody else have trouble with the plug-ins beside myself?

I have Trillian Pro and I have no idea what I must have done because
now all of a sudden my Trillian is looking weird all the time. Come
to find out it is what is called "unfocused" from reading some posts.
None of them told me why it's that way or how to focus it and keep it
that way.

Most of the posts I read (seemed to me) mentioned chat rooms and I
haven't been in a chat room in over 10 years, thank you very much. So
this really baffles me.

Anybody out their familiar with Trillian's unfocused window business
and how I can get mine back to focused and keep it that way. It
appears to me that I have something checked or unchecked somewhere in
my settings that I need to change or maybe I've got a plugin that I
should dump. Only have 3 or so of them. Spellcheck, spam challenge
and You've got Gmail. But this occured just this week and I've had
those plugins for a while.

I hate the way my Trillian looks, unfocused all the time and would
really LOVE to get it back to normal as soon as possible.

Thanks! :-)

Hi list,

I am very new to Trillian (just a few days) and realize that I should
have started using it a long time ago. I want to be accessible to MSN
users so I just signed up with a Live.Com address.

I have not been able to log on to my new account with Trillian.

Should I ditch the live.com account and try to set up a true Hotmail
account?

Thanks,

I am using Trillian Astra, and LOVE using it. It is great! The only problem I am
having is with my webcam. When it turns on, the other person only sees a black
screen. Are there some settings that I can adjust so that someone trying to view
my webcam can actually see me? If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

I am having a problem with Trillian Astra. Where is it?!? Does it really even
exist?!? I have all the postings from this group since I joined saved in a
message folder, and I posted a message on how Astra was coming along, and as of
this coming Wednesday, the message was posted TWO YEARS AGO!!! And NOTHING
YET!!!

So what is the deal? How many years--or decades--is it going to take before
SOME version of Trillian is released? What is holding it up?

As we progress towards the gold release of Trillian Astra, we have removed the
token requirement from the download. You may now freely download the latest
Trillian Astra beta from our download page. Most of the major server issues
have been addressed and many major bugs have been squashed, but we're still busy
fixing the remaining bugs! We will continue to address issues as they are
reported and will be releasing new builds every week or two with our latest
batch of fixes.

Please let us know if you encounter any issues with the new account creation
process and be sure to get all of your friends to try Trillian Astra! :D

pushed out a handful of minor upgrades to server code. A reminder to our new
testers: new builds are released in stages. Those of you with the "Check for

build will be released to everyone after we're sure it has stabilized.

Build 112 is now available and will be distributed to all customers within the
next few days. We fixed a few long-standing bugs in this one (autoconnect not
sticking comes to mind) and continue to iron out the rest of the bugs as we
prepare for a final release. Starting with Build 112, we're considering each
build a potential release candidate. While there will always be bugs, even in a
final release, Trillian Astra is starting to stabilize to the point that we're
comfortable giving it out to a large number of people. Please ensure you report
any show-stopping bugs to us in Bugzilla so we can fix them!

Our development cycle after the final release will continue almost unchanged
from what you see today. Unlike in the past, you won't have to "sit" with a
particular version of Trillian for long periods of time! We'll continue to fix
bugs in our release branch (4.0) while simultaneously introducing new features
in our upcoming beta branch (4.1+), so even if a bug doesn't get fixed for 4.0
"final" there's a good chance it will be fixed shortly thereafter. We think,
within reason, a speedier and more transparent development process will benefit
Trillian as a whole and are looking forward to keeping the updates coming.

Enjoy the build!

Build 116 is going out to all testers this morning. Additionally, we wanted to
take a minute to bring a few exciting projects brewing in the community forums
to your attention.

Avion Pro: A very cool new skin from Insomnautik and Scream81! Check it out on
our forums here ( http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=96424 ), or
go directly to the deviantART download page here (
http://insomnautik.deviantart.com/art/Avion-Pro-v1-0-130628448 ). Many months of
effort have been put into this excellent skin and we urge you all to check it
out and see what you think!

Iconpack Selector: A standalone utility built by community members DiamondNRG
and Scream81 to easily change your icon packs within Trillian – more information
can be found on our forums here (
http://forums.ceruleanstudios.com/showthread.php?t=96453 ). This is something we
need to build directly into Trillian ourselves, but in the meantime the
community has built a solution for you! If you find yourself swapping out icon
packs or preferring a different style of icons than those we provide by default,
take a look at this utility – it's much easier than editing files by hand in our
skinning language.

Enjoy the new build and be sure to drop a friendly note to the authors of these
great additions to Trillian if you enjoy their work. :)

Today we're happy to announce the marking of Build 117 as a gold version of
Trillian Astra. Thousands of Trillian users are already relying on Astra as
their day-to-day communications tool, many major bugs and crashes have been
resolved, and we're very pleased with the overall stability and functionality of
the product! Trillian Astra is available as a free download, and our Pro version
sells for $25, or $10 for upgrading customers. Our new store (
https://www.trillian.im/buy/index.php/introduction ) is online, and we're also
proud to stand behind our 30-day refund policy for any dissatisfied customer.

We want to thank all of our beta testers and customers for their support over
the past few years. It's been a long road for us all and we couldn't have built
Trillian without your support and passion for the product. We hope you continue
to enjoy Trillian as much as we continue to enjoy building it, and look forward
to getting back to work on exciting improvements and feature requests for
Trillian 4.1 and beyond! If you haven't tried Trillian Astra yet, please give it
a spin and let us know what you think. If you're already a customer, please help
us spread the word about the product and get your friends chatting on Astra! :)

So what's next for Cerulean Studios and Trillian? Read on for details…

DEVELOPMENT

During our 3.x cycle, we were often criticized for a lack of development
transparency and slow builds. For over two years now, we've been steadily
updating our blog and releasing builds on a semi-weekly basis! We're very happy
with the new development process and we hope you are too. Look for this to
continue moving forward – although Trillian is stable enough to be used daily,
we'll keep fixing bugs and releasing new builds of the 4.0 branch whenever we
deem it necessary. We will be slowing the 4.0 builds down a little bit – noone
likes software that updates itself every other day – but when batches of bugs
are found and fixed we will push out updates! Our current goal is to ensure the
launch goes smoothly, fix anything major that crops up, and then aim for regular
maintenance builds on a monthly basis. Don't worry if you think we missed a bug
or two – while we're confident in the overall stability of the product, we're
aware that nothing is perfect and will continue to improve Trillian.
TRILLIAN 4.1

Trillian 4.1 is already being worked on. We have an exciting batch of new
features in store for you and have been closely following feature requests filed
against the 4.0 product. Once certain internal milestones are reached, we'll be
putting 4.1 out for beta testing in the same way we've done with 4.0. Stay tuned
to our blog for more details as they become available.
CROSS-PLATFORM, MOBILE DEVICES

We're also continuing our work on all of the new versions of Trillian we've
announced for other platforms. The iPhone version is nearly ready for submission
to the App Store, the Web version will continue to get upgrades inside the 4.1
development cycle, and we'll be talking in more depth about the long-awaited
Trillian for OS X as well.

Again, thank you to everyone who has supported us and we do hope you enjoy
Trillian Astra. We're off to work on 4.1!

Okay, but should it take more than two years for a "use at your
own risk" version to be released to the general public? I
wanted to go pro with Trillian over two years ago but when I
heard of Astra I thought it made more sense to wait until that
came out. Would registering the current Trillian cover Astra
when it is finally released? Simply put, I didn't want to
register it and then have it go obsolete a month later. If I
had known it was going to take over two years then I would have
gone ahead and done it. There's no sense in doing it if I don't
know how long it's going to take.

Build 118 (link :
http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/cl-09-14-2009.txt )
has been released to fix a few bugs with Facebook and IRC. If you've been having
a problem getting Facebook Chat to connect lately, you should install this
update and try again. This is an optional update, meaning you won't need to
install it if you're not impacted by the particular bugs we've fixed. In other
news:

     * Trillian for Windows 4.1 is coming along nicely, and we hope to have more
detailed information to share with everyone soon. After getting 4.0 out the
door, we've been working hard on cool new enhancements, UI improvements, and
implementing as many community feature requests as we can! Look for 4.1 to
improve many different aspects of your current Trillian experience.

Trillian for iPhone (link : http://blog.ceruleanstudios.com/?p=476 )
was submitted to the App Store on August 14th, the same day we released Trillian
Astra 4.0. We haven't been accepted or rejected yet and are patiently awaiting
a response from Apple. Should the app be rejected, we'll update the blog and
explain what we're doing to address any problems Apple's reviewers uncovered. In
the meantime, we're in the dark and keeping our fingers crossed.

Trillian 3.1.14.0 (link : http://www.trillian.im/download/ ) * is being
slowly rolled out to 3.x customers this week. It features upgrades to the
Yahoo! engine to ensure protocol compatibility with Yahoo!'s latest servers. We
recommend that 3.x customers capable of doing so upgrade to the 4.x series as
soon as possible; as a rule, the protocol engines within 4.x will always be the
most reliable and up-to-date.

Thanks for your interest and support!

I have been using Trillian Astra for about 2 years. The alpha test versions were
less buggy than Yahoo, MSN or myspace messengers. I quit using the aol messenger
years ago because I was so fed up with it. Astra still has it's problems that
they are working on daily, but I am glad they are actually working on problems
instead of like myspace and other messengers basically saying; yes we know there
is a major problem with being able to use our software, we will get around to
fixing it in a few years in the mean time here is some useless junk to make the
software even less usable.

I rarely use the twitter feature on astra, but other than that it is great.

Trillian for Windows 4.1 is coming soon! Next week, starting on Monday, we're
going to be unveiling a series of blog posts that describe some major new
features in 4.1 and how they'll improve your Trillian experience. The topics
will include:

     * Monday: Mail Improvements
     * Tuesday: Windows 7 Integration
     * Wednesday: Away System Upgrades, New Preferences
     * Thursday: Twitter and Facebook Improvements

We're very excited to show everyone what we've been up to and hope you enjoy the
mini tour of what's coming! The alpha will be available for download at some
point after next week; we'll firm this date up soon and let you know when we've
decided on a date. Paying customers will have access to the earliest alpha
builds, and all customers will have access to the beta builds once we've feature
frozen and are back into aggressive bugfixing mode.

Planned upgrades to the MSN plugin have been rescheduled for a later release,
but are already underway and proceeding smoothly. We decided not to hold back
4.1 for MSN work; part of our new strategy involves releasing things when
they're ready and not always trying to do a million things at once! We think
4.1 will be a great example of this. See you here next week!

P.S. As a little bonus for staying tuned to our blog, we've hidden some secret
treasure in our Avatar Gallery for tomorrow's Talk Like A Pirate day. Enjoy
them, me hearties!
