Are the circles on the right? It could mean that they've been warned. Hover
over their names with the mouse pointer and check their warning level.

Okay, TechTV has a poll. "Do you think AOL has the right to block Trillian
users?" Currently the vote is 15% says Yes, they do have the right. 85% say
NO they don't have the right. Cast your vote and tell others to do the same!
Polling ends tomorrow. Go to this link and either check on the bottom right
side of the page or use your browser's FIND feature to find the text "poll".

Not sure. I've only been using Trillian for about a week I guess. I just tried
logging on to multiple user ID's a couple of days ago, so I just now noticed the
problem. Some ID's would connect and some wouldn't.

If you're having trouble connecting to any of your AIM accounts, go to Options
| Preferences | Chatting Services | AIM | Misc and uncheck "SecureIM" and try
connecting again. I couldn't connect to several of my AIM accounts until I
unchecked that option.

Not sure. My uneducated guess is that AOL saw the reviews on C|Net and decided
to monkey with the network & try to make life difficult.

Thanks...it worked. But the question is....WHY did this cause it to fail?
SecureIM has been working fine for me the last week.

AIM
Misc.
Uncheck "Activate SecureIM Capabilities" and uncheck "When possible, make a best
effort to automatically maintain a SecureIM session with my contacts.
Apply and you should be able to connect to AIM.

Hey all -
Just joined the group today. I picked up Trillian last week. My AOL
IM account has been working fine with Trillian up until this morning.
I keep getting the following error:
[10:54] *** Creating connection "BKDeLong"
[10:54] *** Buddy rights: 200 buddies allowed, 750 watchers allowed.
[10:54] *** BOS rights: 200 max on permit list, 200 max on deny list.
[10:54] *** You have successfully connected to the AOL Instant
Messenger service.
[10:54] *** Fatal error (couldn't receive flap): Error Code 10054
[10:54] *** Disconnecting.
Over and over and over. Reboot doesn't have any effect.
I'm running 0.71 on Win98.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I was under the impression that Trillian could connect more than one AIM
account at the same time, yet when I try to connect to a second AIM account, I
get a mismatch password notice. I know the password is correct because I used
it to log in to my actual AOL account, AND I used it to log in to the real AIM
client, yet Trillian receives a mismatch password notice. I get this when I'm
also logged in with my primary AIM account.
But... I just checked a third AIM account and it logged in normally. It's
just this one account that will not cooperate. :-\
Anybody experienced this one?

With so few users, it's nice that this place has a few posts. I've tried
unsuccessfully to find a more active Trillian mailing list, or a mailing list
for chat clients in general. I can't even find anything on usenet except for
alt.chat-programs and that group is empty. As many posts as
alt.chat-progrms.icq has, you'd think there would be justification for other
chat programs as well.
Anybody know of other Trillian lists or lists for other chat programs?

Cnet has given Trillian a great review, giving it an eight and telling the world
to drop the other messengers for Trillian!
<quote>
The good: Reliably connects with buddies on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ; offers
several interface skins so that you can change its appearance in seconds;
provides features of specific IM services, such as MSN multiparty chat and AIM
photo transfer.
The bad: Sometimes tricky behind a firewall; available for Windows only; doesn't
support some advanced features; lacks audio chat and PC-to-phone capability.
The bottom line: For now, Trillian is our favorite IM client, bar none. Download
it today if you use more than one of the Big Four instant messengers.

Now that's cool! :-D
Some of the skins available on the Trillian website are truly screwed. Several I've downloaded don't show the proper icon for the service the contact is using. A couple I tried use nothing but MSN Messenger icons, then on a status change the icon might become an ICQ icon. For example, an ICQ user went to Private mode and her icon went from an MSN icon to an ICQ Private icon. Quite annoying, and I wondered if this was because the skinner programmed it that way or what. The screen shots of the skins show the proper icons, but it doesn't work for me on all skins.
Currently I use the Compact 0.71.2 skin because it shows the proper icons, but they're too tiny. I want the regular-sized icons.

When I add ICQ contacts, it doesn't seem to acknowledge whether I need the person's persmission or not. Is notification sent that I've added someone, or must I send them a message and tell them?

I'm having the same problem with the ICQ connection. Oddly, I think it's the
ICQ server or something. The guy I'm chatting with will suddenly start
sending "You there?" as if I hadn't sent any messages in the last five
minutes. I then connect with the actual ICQ program and things are fine.
Then it happens again and I reconnect with Trillian.
I do get the notification that the guy I'm chatting with is using an older
client, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I am running a Windows XP system using a router to connect to the
internet via a cable ISP service.
