Vanakkam,
This is an issue related to Tamil, Tecnology and Medicine.

Ultrasound exam in not an alien term to the general public.
Ultrasound exam is done very commonly. Almost 75% of women by the age of 30 and
40% or men by age 40 have had an ultrasound exam done in this country according
to learned sources.

In Tamil Nadu software companies have prospered on Ultrasound reporting alone.
Some of the major players have annual turnovers more than a crore based on the
above requirement. Ultrasound reporting directly stimulates sale of PC?s,
printers and printer consumables.

This is a background to highlight the magnitude of the subject under discussion.

Now we have come up with a reporting software. What is new in it is that it is
in Tamil. Samples of the same can be found here and here.

Some unique features of the software are:
1. Extremely user friendly and offer good throughput. We did over 25 such
reports shown above in 1 hour at a hospital in Coimbatore.
2. Virtually NO LOAD on the operating doctor.
3. Required the services of a technician who enters patient details,
finding and takes printouts.
4. Technically it required intricate skills in networking, localizing
strings in Tamil and integration with the Surabi Ethiroli ultrasound scanner.

It was shown to the medical fraternity in an around Coimbatore, the place of
development of the software. The responses varied from ?What is the advantage??
to ?Good but I don?t want to take the risk of using it?

Hence with more than one month after developing the report it is still to reach
the patients hands. Hence this search for a forward looking entrepreneur,
visionary, who is willing to try out this solution on his patients. It would be
a first time effort in Tamil Nadu. There is absolutely no financial commitment.
We will lend all equipment from Ultrasound scanner to printing papers for a
period say 2 -3 weeks. The only commitment is that you are willing to hand out
the reports in Tamil to your patients.

This appeal is addressed to:
1. Medical officer/Dean of Master health check up programm in a Government
Hospitals.
2. Head trust/ private community hospital doing predominantly free or no profit
ultrasound scans
3. Any hospital, doctor, scan centre owner who does ultrasound reporting

I request you to forward this to any contact or other list worthwhile forwarding
and help us establish link with that person we are whelmently searching.

Thanks in advance for your effort to promote computing in Tamil.

Ravi Ganesh

Dear Sir,

Go to 'murasu anjal' and download 'Inaimathi' as murasu anjal 'lite'
which is free. But I find TCU Paranar in Tauvutesoft keyman is more
convenient because we can use it just like microsoft word.

Dear Nandhita Kapiyan,
I have installed eKalaippai. Although some four Fonts
have been downloaded none of these work! I use Windows
XP; in the MS Word, the fonts selection is indicated
in the selection window but the Tamil script does not
come when typed. Are there problems with the XP
platform to support these Tamil Fonts? Previously I
had used Windows 2000 and had no problem. Pl clarify.
Thanking you in advance,

Dear Friends:

As you probably know, early this year I took responsibilities
as Chair of INFITT (International Forum for Information Technology
in Tamil) from Mr. Muthu Nedumaran. We are working on several
projects to reanimate INFITT after some dull period of 2005/2006.
INFITT website is being revamped at
    http;//www,infitt.org

It has been over 3 years since INFITT had elections to elect
candidates for its 51-member General Council GC and 12-member
Executive Committee. So we would like to organize the election
soon, before end of 2007 if possible.

For meaningful election of 51 members for the GC, we need to
have at least a hundred registered individual members with
voting rights. For India quota of 16 seats out of 51, we would
like to see at least twice as many registered members with
voting rights.

Since we are anxious to hold the elections to GC, EC as soon
as possible, we have launched a membership drive. The annual
dues for "individual" membership has been reduced by nearly
half (US$25 for those resident in developed economies such as
north america, western europe, singapore, australasia, ... and
US$10 for developing economies such as India, Sri Lanka,
Malaysia, ...). For those who sign up now, annual dues paid
will be credited for year 2008 with rest of 2007 year subscription
coming as "gratis".

We have now announced the online membership registration
facility with PayPal services for members to sign up and
pay the dues. The online registration page is at

      http://infitt.org/members_signup.php

I would appreciate much if you can express your support for
INFITT by registering as a voting member. Any help that you
can give by promoting INFITT and its membership recruitment
drive will be appreciated by all of us.

I look forward to hearing from you soon on this,

with best regards,
Kalyan

Dear Prof. Maraimalai:

Thanks a lot for your kind words and continued support for INFITT.

International organization can grow only with large scale grass
roots support. INFITT is critically dependent on the sponsorship
of international MNCs to undertake major events like Tamil
Internet Conferences. When we contact IT MNCs, Key questions
they ask: "how big is your grass roots membership? How well
is Tamil Diaspora represented in INFITT etc.

So we do need large scale support from Tamils worldwide as
registered members of INFITT. Any help that you can provide in
bringing more people in the INFITT General Body will be highly
appreciated by all of us.

Dear Prof.Kalyanasundaram,
Immediately after seeing your mail I registered myself as a member.
Now after this mail I understand the need of a huge participation of the Tamil
diaspora worldwide.
Give me a week's time.I will contact at least some friends in U.S.
If each of our friends strive to persuade a couple of friends,I am sure,we can
achieve.
Rest in next,

Dear Prof.

Dear Prof. Maraimalai:

Thanks in advance for your help. In fact INFITT General
Council has 51 elected members, of which India quota is
16. Ideally we would like to have at least twice as many
voting members from India to elect their representatives
in the GC.

Right now we do not have even 16 people from India signed
up as "individual members" with voting rights - reason
I have been writing to many of our friends in Tamilnadu
to come forward and support global initiatives like INFITT.

Unfortunately for diverse reasons INFITT did not have
their major event -Tamil Internet Conference during the
past 2 years. We have been trying to hold a conference in
Sri Lanka. Sadly the local situation has not improved.
Many even think that INFITT is already dead due to this
hibernation.

I am enclosing herewith a PDF file that contains brief
FAQ on INFITT for your reference. Feel free to circulate
it to your friends in India, USA and other places when
you encourage them to join INFITT.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Dear Doctor Kalyanasundaram,

I am an aging(77yrs) non-active, non-technical, but an ardent Tamil-
loving member of TSCII and has always been admiring your patient (it
is the mother of all virtues) relentless, and continuously vigorous
efforts for promoting the noble cause of TSCII.

Kindly condone my ignorance. Quite many years ago around the same
time I had begun to learn and use a p.c. and Internet, unaware of the
very important and specialized task for which it was founded, I got
myself enlisted as a member OF TSCII. From then on, I have been
regularly getting in my Yahoo in-box all the letters posted in that
group. All I have been doing so far as a silent, unskilled member is
fervently praying for the everlasting success for all the
undertakings that you and the other membera having been taking on
hand.

What surprised me when I read your mail sometime ago, that a
memberhip fee is required and is expected to be renewed annually.

Whatever it be,I am eager to come forward and remit the required
fees. The difficulty that I am faced with is that because of my age,
I have been denied a Credit Card from any promoters. Could you kindly
advise me how I can be enabled to make the payment? I reckon that #10
will be equivalent to about Rs.400-450/-.
While I am a permanent resident of Bangalore, I am temporarily with
my second daughter in Atlanta, and shall be back to my motherland by
December 2007.

I offer my sincere apologies, if I had, quite unnecessarily taken up
your precious time with this meandering letter. Bacon said 'Brevity
is the soul of wit'. Unfortunately this old mand lacks the whole of
it.
Thank You & God Bless You
Longlive Tamil, Longlive TSCII !
Yours apologetically,
V.Shrinivas

Dear Mr. Shrinivas:

Glad to hear from you after a long time ;-)

If you do not have your own credit-card, you can always ask your
son/daughter/friend whoever has a credit card to pay on your behalf.
As long as we know who paid for who, we can tag the payment
to the concerned member's account. Since you are primarily a
resident of India, you can pay annual dues of US$10.

Electronic payment is best option if you can, since it is easier for
for our book-keeping and annual auditing of accounts. If there are
problems, you may consider making payments through one of our
Executive Committee members based in India. You can even pay
in Indian Rupees whatever equivalent the dues come to. Please
contact me if you want to use the latter route.

Dear Friends:

INFITT is very much interested to encourage young students
to take active interest in Tamil computing and if possible take
up projects in Tamil IT areas. We would like to offer technical
and other support.

For this purpose, we do have now "Associate" Membership
category in INFITT (with no annual dues to pay) for registered
students of academic institutions (schools, colleges and
universities). They can register using the same online gateway

  http://www.infitt.org/members_signup.php

indicating the name of the academic institution affiliated to and
mention of the course they are pursuing.

We look forward to having many young students as well in our
organization.

Dear Friends:

As you probably know, early this year I took responsibilities
as Chair of INFITT (International Forum for Information Technology
in Tamil) from Mr. Muthu Nedumaran. We are working on several
projects to reanimate INFITT after some dull period of 2005/2006.
INFITT website is being revamped at
http;//www,infitt. org

The online registration page is at

http://infitt. org/members_ signup.php

I would appreciate much if you can express your support for
INFITT by registering as a voting member. Any help that you
can give by promoting INFITT and its membership recruitment
drive will be appreciated by all of us.

I look forward to hearing from you soon on this,

with best regards,
Kalyan
