Hi All,
Long time lurker, first time poster...

Just got my system (HobbyCNC EZ board) up running on a Tiger 400mhg
P2 under DOS 6.2. Tried TurboCNC V4.00 and it works great (after a
little twiddling).

I thought, "hey, wouldn't it save alot of space on the bench if I
used a laptop?..." and dug out an old Compaq Presario 1210.
Reformatted the HD and installed MSDOS 6.22.

One other variable... I managed to load TCNC 4.00 on the desktop,
and TCNC 4.01 on the laptop. Not sure how I managed that...

Problem is, while my steppers step smartly on the big machine, they
jerk and stop on the laptop, all the same settings. I've removed all
high memory references and drivers... what am I missing? Is there
something quite different from V4.00 to V4.01?

Thanks,
Steve Charette

Steve, As a wild guess, you may have been bitten by the 3.3V parallel port on the laptop or possibly the battery management functions that control things like...

Bubba, Yes, I copied autoexec.bat and config.sys to .old extensions and blew them away. This is a late 90's vintage Compaq... I'm guessing if I'd left Windows...

Bubba, Oh yeah, it runs and boots directly to DOS 6.22. I'll dig around in the BIOS setup this afternoon and see what I can do. I have been doing some...

http://www.transdigital.net/ this PCMCIA card works under DOS, but you will have to find the PCMCIA drivers for DOS somewhere else. I had trouble finding some...

... Be careful with that card. Unless they've changed the design since I bought one three or so years ago, it requires that +5 volts be available at the PCMCIA...

I have a similar issue.    I have several old laptops, all with 3 volt parallel ports. To protect these antique laptops, which nicely boot DOS,  and to...

If you put a 74ACT540 to the out put of pins 2 through 9. You can get 5v from the USB if it has one. If not buy a 5v power supply for the chip. It will read...
