Does it make sense to buy insurance if we're not flying?
How about this? What would be the downside if we "suspended" insurance coverage for some period of time? We could use that time to get the next two or three or four or five or more missions ready to fly. Then, once we get our payloads, balloons, and recovery systems all ready to go, and we see a period of favorable weather coming, and schedule times when people are available to fly, - THEN we could reinstate the insurance.
Do we need insurance for ground-based activities?
I was talking to Mike Garske about this and Mike said it made sense to him to suspend insurance coverage. We should at least investigate this option.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this suggestion?
