As always I encourage everyone to bring anything extra they have to share. Plants, cuttings, seeds, fruit or even a recipe prepared with fruit or vegetables! If you don't have anything extra to bring please just come on any way! I always try to bring plenty of extra plants to share. I know some of you are new to this and don't have an extra 1000 seedlings sitting around! But I promise you if you come to our meetings we will work to fix that for you! Also if you have a Friend or neighbor that you think will enjoy our meetings please bring them along!

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know!

Thanks,

Ed Self

We are a group of fruit growers that range from apartment dwellers growing in containers to commercial nursery growers and commercial u-pick operators.

We have a wide range of experience and knowledge. We started in August 2007. We get together to share our growing experiences and exchange plants, seeds and cuttings. Someone always brings fruit for us to try, whatever is in season at that time.

I have been gardening in Texas since 2001. I have plants in the ground and in a small greenhouse. Here is a list of things I am growing in Katy:

In the ground:

White Sapote
Lychee
Sugar Apple
Jaboticaba
A lot of citrus
Che
Dragon Fruit
Mango

In Containers:

Miracle Fruit
Strawberry tree or panama berry
Sugar Apple
Cherimoya
Avocado
Pineapple
Starfruit

Re: Surinam Cherry
Ed, If you find one with a good flavor, what are the growing characteristics of the plant? I was looking casually at this type of fruit. Terry

Re: Surinam Cherry
Mack ,   Eugenia uniflora requires full sun , lots of water when fruiting and pick the fruit only when it releases by itself when you touch it , no pulling ,

Surinam Cherry
Ed I have two of the red they freeze down in the winter and come back in the spring. The only fruit I got from them didn't taste very good. Mack
