KENNEDY SPACE CENTER
SHUTTLE PROCESSING STATUS_______________
KSC Contact: Joel Wells
Thursday, April 27, 2000

(2:30 p.m. EDT)

MISSION: STS-101 - 3rd ISS Flight (2A.2a) - SPACEHAB DM

VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104
LOCATION: Launch Pad 39A
TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Under review
TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Under review
LAUNCH WINDOW: 5 minutes
MISSION DURATION: TBD
CREW: Halsell, Horowitz, Weber, Williams, Voss, Helms, Usachev
ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 173 nautical miles/51.6 degrees

SHUTTLE PROCESSING NOTE: Following yesterday's scrubbed launch attempt,
Shuttle engineers at KSC have completed operations to offload Space Shuttle
Atlantis' external tank. This week, tankers filled with liquid hydrogen and
liquid oxygen will deliver the commodities to KSC in order to replenish the
storage spheres at Launch Pad 39A. With crew module destow operations in
work and no SPACEHAB access required, managers expect minimal work on the
vehicle.

Shuttle program managers continue to assess the next available launch date
for STS-101 and expect a decision before the end of the week. While launch
date discussions continue, KSC managers will prepare for a launch
opportunity as early as next week to protect that option should it become
available. The flight crew has returned to Houston, TX and remains in
quarantine while launch options are being reviewed.

-- UNIVERSE TODAY STORY SUMMARY --

* Shuttle Atlantis Grounded Until May
* Milky Way to Collide with Andromeda
* The Universe is Flat

SHUTTLE ATLANTIS GROUNDED UNTIL MAY
-------------------------
The space shuttle Atlantis mission to the International Space Station
was cancelled for the third time due to poor weather at emergency
landing sites in Spain and Morocco. The next opportunity isn't until
around May 11th. The shuttle is to provide supplies and fuel to allow
the ISS to widen its orbit, which is currently decaying at almost 2 miles
a week.

MILKY WAY TO COLLIDE WITH ANDROMEDA
-------------------------
A software model on one of the world's most powerful computers
shows evidence that the Milky Way Galaxy is on a collision course with
the Andromeda galaxy. Don't panic: the collision isn't due for another
3 billion years, and likely won't have much affect on the solar system.

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/science/DyeHard/dyehard000426.html

THE UNIVERSE IS FLAT
-------------------------
Italian explorers may have proved that the Earth is round, but Italian
scientists now say that the universe is as flat as a pancake. A
"temperature map" that tracks the path of the blizzard of photons
created when the cosmos emerged 10 to 20 billion years ago provides
a snapshot of and extremely young universe. Further, they suggest
that a flat universe could continue to expand forever, with not enough
mass to recollapse into a "big crunch".

Dear List Members -

I would encourage you to support this petition. I don't know that it
will see its goal accomplished but it's a move in the right direction as
apathy will accomplish nothing. My 'personal' opinion is that the
petition should also ask that Malin be removed as the
owner/distributor/decision maker of the Mars Global Surveyor project.
Those familiar with the workings of Malin and his group understand why
I, and many others, feel this would be a good move. But, we have to
take this one step at a time. :-)

Flight Attendants Practice the Art Of Distraction

    Thursday, April 27, 2000

    ROBERT KIRBY
    TRIBUNE COLUMNIST

Last week my wife and I flew to Maryland. We arrived on time. Even
better, our luggage showed up. We got to wear our own clothes on
    vacation.
Neither of us flies well. My wife, whose reputation for common
sense has never fully recovered from agreeing to marry me, has this
irrational fear that the pilot is a closet kamikaze.
I'm claustrophobic. So by the time we strap in and watch the
safety mime show, I'm terrified that the plane won't crash. Getting
killed seems a small price to pay for getting out.
Fortunately, there are highly trained flight attendants whose
particular job is to calm my wife and to not let me sit near any of
    the cabin doors.
Regardless of how many times I press the call button for some
petty request, no flight attendant has ever shown up at my seat with a
stun gun. This small fact has enabled me to make a study of their
    profession.
DISCLAIMER: If you plan on flying soon, do not read below this
    line.
First, a brief flight attendant history. They used to be called
"stewardesses," until that word became synonymous with
"nymphomaniacs." Exactly how this happened, I don't know. The most I
ever got was a pat on the head.
Whatever they get paid, it isn't enough. The fact that there has
never been a major incident aboard an aircraft involving me is proof
that they also save the airlines money.
I should probably add that you couldn't pay me enough to be a
flight attendant. Partly because it involves confined spaces, but
    mainly because it involves passengers.
A combination of profit margin and design engineering means that
passengers are regarded by airlines as little more than noisy cargo.
Flight attendants keep us from becoming sufficiently upset about this
treatment to the point that we bother or injure the pilot.
Options for keeping passengers calm are limited, once you take
away drugs, electricity and that nymphomaniac thing. However, I may
have figured out how they do it.
First they divert our attention to aircraft safety. Before taking
off, attendants go through a lot of arm waving that, for those who
understand the early art of semaphore, explains what to do if:
        A. The plane is attacked by a UFO.
        B. The pilot takes the plane for a swim.
        C. Some idiot rolls down a window.
Why any of this needs to be explained through a plastic mask
shaped like a pig's nose is way over my head.
By the time passengers figure out that mindless screaming is the
only real option in an aircraft emergency, they are in the air. This
is the real danger point. Throughout the cabin, passengers are now
thinking, "What if my luggage is going to Japan?"
The proper countermeasure for this is the beverage cart. With the
right combination of caffeine and/or alcohol, you won't care if your
stuff ends up at a yard sale in Bolivia.
Passenger focus then shifts to secretly hating the person(s) next
to them for spilling their beverage, barfing, hogging the arm rests,
or trampling them during repeated trips to the restroom.
When attendants sense this anger reaching the boiling point, they
announce turbulence and activate the "fasten seat belt" sign.
Turbulence is what causes the airplane to bounce up and down.
Faced with the possibility of being violently dribbled the length of
the cabin, everyone straps back in.
On long flights, attendants sometimes pass out pillows. Figuring
out how to make a pillow the size of a cotton ball work provides many
    long-lasting hours of passenger distraction.
Upon landing, flight attendants smile and say goodbye as if
nothing serious had happened. And if they did their job well, nothing
    did.

THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE IS TEN!
It's hard to believe that we understood space at all before the Hubble was
launched. We've probably learned more about the universe in the last ten
years than we have in all of history up to that point thanks to this one
instrument. We are celebrating this milestone all week with special

* Shuttle Team Working for Launch Next Week
* Strange Images of Martian Terrain
* Stardust Finds Interstellar Organic Material

SHUTTLE TEAM WORKING FOR LAUNCH NEXT WEEK
-------------------------
After being foiled for the third time, space shuttle Atlantis was looking
at mid-may for its next opportunity to launch a mission to the
International Space Station. But NASA will find out today if a hurricane
satellite launch set for Wednesday can be bumped for the shuttle's ISS
mission. If not, Atlantis is looking at around may 18th for their launch.

STRANGE IMAGES OF MARTIAN TERRAIN
-------------------------
Season changes are reflected in the strange new images of the Martian
south polar cap and a crater in the Northern Hemisphere. Each region is
being photographed by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor, currently orbiting
Mars.

http://www.msnbc.com/news/329383.asp

STARDUST FINDS INTERSTELLAR ORGANIC MATERIAL
-------------------------
A chemical analysis of interstellar dust particles taken by the Stardust
spacecraft produces a confusing result: these particles consist mostly of
3-dimensionally cross-linked organic macro-molecules, resembling a tar-like
substance rather than minerals. To date, the CIDA (Cometary and
Interstellar Dust Analyzer) onboard the NASA spacecraft Stardust has
been hit by 5 interstellar dust particles.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 28, 2000

FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED FOR CAREER OF THE FUTURE: PLANET HUNTING

Jobs in the 21st century are only getting better and better,
as the call for students with planet-finding talent grows louder.
Through the Michelson Fellowship Program, NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, Calif., recently awarded three post-
doctoral and four graduate fellowships to students with
innovative proposals for enhancing NASA's search for planets
around other stars.

"Support of students -- our future astronomers and space
scientists -- is a high priority for NASA and JPL," said Dr.
Rudolf Danner, director of the fellowship program. "Not only will
we benefit from the high caliber of their research, the
recipients will have a unique opportunity to participate in
current mission work, as well as to prepare for new career
opportunities in astronomy."

Funded by NASA's Origins Program and JPL's Space
Interferometry Mission, the fellowships are named for Dr. Albert
Michelson, the first American to win a Nobel Prize in physics.
Michelson is known as the father of interferometry, a technique
that combines and processes light from multiple telescopes to
obtain a clear image of distant objects. Interferometry is a
key technology for the Origins program in its effort to detect
faint, Earth-size planets around stars light years away.

The annually awarded fellowship sponsors three years of
graduate research at the student's host institution and covers
tuition, a student stipend, and a small budget for travel and
other research expenses. The graduate student award is about
$30,000 per year, while the post-doctoral awards range from
$60,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on the nature of the
research.

This year's graduate fellowships were awarded to:

    - Yuan Liu, State University of New York at Stony Brook, who
      will develop a technique to detect binary (double) stars;

    - David Berger, Georgia State University in Atlanta, who will
develop a method to reduce the obscuring effects of the
      atmosphere in ground-based telescopic observations;

    - Doug Hope, University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, who will
apply information theory -- the theoretical understanding of
how computer algorithms work -- to the analysis of images
      taken by optical interferometers; and,

    - Kuo-Chia (Alice) Liu, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
Cambridge, who will study the engineering challenges
associated with large space interferometers, seeking ways of
taking more and better images within a shorter amount of time.

Post-doctoral fellowships were awarded to:

    - Dr. Marc Kuchner, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena,
who will study the earliest stages of planet formation by

    Companies Swoon Over the Moon
    By Leonard David
    Senior Space Writer
    posted: 07:00 am ET
    25 April 2000

WASHINGTON -- A handful of small U.S. space companies are plotting a
return to the moon, triggering their own version of a 21st-century
    style lunar race.

The companies, mostly start-up ventures, are busy trying to pull
together both the technological know-how and the money to send
spacecraft into lunar orbit or land upon on the moon's surface.

At stake is more than just bragging rights. The companies believe a
moon mission can yield profits, mostly in the entertainment and
    information arenas.

"All of these companies intend to return healthy profits from their
projects, and all of them want the notoriety that will come with
success as the first private commercial venture to the moon," said
Gregory Nemitz, president of one entrant, TransOrbital.

The Alexandria, Virginia, company plans to develop a low-cost video
    photography mission for lunar orbit.

                               A Lunar Sampler

At least five companies are raising money and developing technology in
a race to be the first commercial group to land on the moon.

The idea is to do for the moon what Jacques Cousteau did for the
oceans -- to go and explore and sell the images over and over again.

"The fact that there are at least five companies that are serious
about the prospects for completely commercial lunar projects indicates
that the technology required is well within the grasp of
    non-government organizations," Nemitz said.

As Nemitz sees it, that amounts to a full-blown race to the moon.

"This time the race is by private industry, not superpower nations,
and it is already underway below the threshold of the general public's
    awareness," he said.

"The actual contest is the race to secure the funding required,"
Nemitz said. "The companies are all working as hard as they can to
convince major investors that the next hot stock opportunity is not an
internet company but is the new and emerging space companies."

One cash-flush candidate is believed to be idealab!, a Pasadena,
California firm that creates, launches and operates internet
    businesses.

Founded in March 1996 by entrepreneur Bill Gross, idealab! now has
some 50 businesses in various stages of development. But the company
is guarded about its lunar plans.

In a brief statement to SPACE.com, the company said it was "constantly
exploring new ideas, among them the possibilities at the intersection
of the internet, global media and commercial and private space
sectors. If it is determined that viable business opportunities can be
developed in this arena, announcements will be made when appropriate."

Also in hush-hush mode about the moon race is SpaceDev of Poway,
    California.

"We're working on two sets of missions, but we can't say anything
about them," said James Benson, SpaceDev's chairman. "These missions
are credible and partially fundedand we're involved in mission and
spacecraft design on both of them."

The idea of focused, inexpensive deep-space missions as a commercial
product is as revolutionary today as personal computers were only 20
    years ago, he said.

"For right now, the only value of the moon is entertainment. There has
been a convergence of the internet, space and interesting content. It
doesn't have to come from just the moon but the moon is pretty close,"
    Benson said.

Denise Norris, president of Applied Space Resources, another
contender, said her firm has spent more than two years trying to
understand the demographics of the people interested in space.

Her company is seeking $2 million to start building a moon lander
designed to snap up rock samples and bring them to Earth for sale. It
projects total mission costs at $70 million.

"Clearly, we think the key to getting into space is not to be an
aerospace company or a micro-Boeing or something like that. You have
to be a marketing company on the lookout for terrestrial markets,"
    Norris said.

LunaCorp. of Arlington, Virginia, has been pondering a commercial moon
    visit since 1989.

Coming face-to-face with the moon: Private groups envision a business
in linking public interest with Earth's lunar neighbor, not only for
    entertainment purposes, but science too.

"Things are becoming more possible now than they have before," said
David Gump, the company's president. "The believability of going back
to the moon with robots has increased," he said.

Gump said going to the moon gets cheaper every year. But identifying
    the customer base is paramount.

"We think you've got to prove that the customers exist before you can
go to the investment community and get any substantial amount of
money," Gump said. "One of the key turning points will be when lower
    cost launch services become available."

Getting to the moon in a faster, better, cheaper fashion is something
    Alan Binder understands.

Binder, the principal investigator for NASA's $63 million Lunar
Prospector mission, is guardedly optimistic that a private return to
    the moon can happen.

"We're all hopeful that each of us somehow succeeds and that will get
the whole thing going," said Binder, now director of the Lunar
    Research Institute in Tucson, Arizona.

"But my view is that talk is cheap. It takes money to buy beer. When
somebody actually starts putting their spacecraft together, I'll
    believe it," he said.

Binder said his efforts these days are directed at persuading Congress
to give NASA the money to buy research data collected by private
companies. That way, he said, selling science to the government can be
mixed with other types of commercial or entertainment ventures.

"We are all in the same boat, paddling the same directionto the moon,"
    Binder said.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER
SHUTTLE PROCESSING STATUS
KSC Contact: Joel Wells
Friday, April 28, 2000
(1 p.m. EDT)

MISSION: STS-101 - 3rd ISS Flight (2A.2a) - SPACEHAB DM

VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104
LOCATION: Launch Pad 39A
TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: May 18, 2000 at about 6:33 a.m. EDT
TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: May 28 or 29 (dependent upon ISS rendezvous)
LAUNCH WINDOW: 5 minutes
MISSION DURATION: 10 or 11 days
CREW: Halsell, Horowitz, Weber, Williams, Voss, Helms, Usachev
ORBITAL ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 173 nautical miles/51.6 degrees

SHUTTLE PROCESSING NOTE: NASA managers today set May 18 as the target
launch date for Space Shuttle Atlantis on mission STS-101 following a
thorough evaluation of launch options for both STS-101 and the Atlas GOES-L
mission. Managers decided the need to preserve full satellite weather
capability with a launch of Atlas GOES-L as scheduled on May 3 was a higher
priority than an earlier launch of Atlantis to visit the International Space
Station. May 18 is the earliest available opportunity due to other planned
launches and operational requirements on the Eastern Range.

At Launch Pad 39A, Shuttle Atlantis remains in excellent health. Shuttle
workers have completed standard post-scrub activities. The Rotating Service
Structure is in place around Atlantis, and offloading of cryogenics from the
orbiter's onboard storage tanks is in work. Launch controllers will
maintain the vehicle's current configuration at the pad and continue to
monitor Shuttle systems. Routine system retests will resume next week in
preparation for the next launch attempt. The countdown clock is scheduled
to begin at the T-43 hour mark on Monday morning, May 15.

The seven-member flight crew is in Houston, TX and will leave quarantine
today. They will continue training activities at Johnson Space Center until
their return to KSC a few days prior to launch.

Our philosophy...
Best wihes Alfredo Lissoni from Italy

About C.U.N. Centro Ufologico Nazionale: Italy's National UFO Center

For sometime now, the acronym UFO, coined nearly fifty years ago by the
United States
Air Force, has been used to denote a technical term for ("Unidentified
Flying Objects").
This was done in order to have a certain detachment from the picturesque
term " flying
saucers", which originated with pilot Kenneth Arnold on June 24th 1947 with
his first
sighting of these objects . UFO has thus become an integral part of our
common everyday
vocabulary. The initials UFO has even been added to dictionaries among the
new phrases
and has become synonymous with a unique and mysterious event mostly
belonging to the
science fiction realm and which is imagined by thousands of people .This
made it a
phenomena completely unrelated the daily reality that surrounds us, an
extraterrestrial
reality. Popular polls in America and Europe tell us that, not only young
people, but also a
high percentage of adults, among cultured , high income earning adults, are
very sensitive
to the problem and its implications; while those who are indifferent and
skeptical are fast
becoming the minority. From all this comes the need to supply correct
information to the
general public who are somewhat out of the circle of the passionately
involved and who are
asking for more information and rightfully so.

For more of thirty years, through the Center Ufologico Italiano ( CUN) and
by way of its
respected and reputable image, we , at "Notiziario UFO" and now "UFO
Notiziario", are
addressing this controversial problem in Italy. Ours has been a labor of
much research, of
evaluation and investigation that has demystified many cases. All this has
helped us earn
the support of the authorities, of the mass media and of the general public,
but likewise the
aversion of whose who, by their myopic vision based primarily on
conventional science and
religion, claim to have all the answers to the universe.

In the meantime, in these thirty years, there has emerged a great deal of
evidence and
reliable data that we can verify that makes this UFO reality more of a
certainty. Today
with this Internet Network, our new approach must put aside the logical,
traditional and
practical which is rather limiting to our interested readers, in order to
leave the field open
for a new open, investigative approach to the problem.

The problem, in fact, is not only to address the discussion( Ufological and
various other
connected phenomenon) with techno- scientific terms but to be able to give
some answers
to these many questions by informing, using more appropriately, suitable
terms the ever
more growing population who believes it has all the facts and also has all
the answers to
them.

This is not and will never be a web-magazine dedicated to mysteries and the
inconclusive
solutions to them. Let's leave it to the various other publications that
combine astrology,
magic, the esoteric, with parapsychology and the like with the UFO
phenomenon . This is
because it is now evident that this phenomenon is separate and distinct from
a strictly
human sphere, both traditionally and physiologically different, and it
concerns other
explanations that science and technology are not able to furnish to the
questions so many
people ask.

Are we alone in the Universe? Are we being visited by extra terrestrial
beings? Have
these particular visits occurred in the past? What role do they play in our
regards? How do
these intelligences view us? What are the implications and consequences from
contact with
creatures from other worlds? What waits us in the Cosmos that lies beyond
the Earth?

To these mysteries which push each of us to the end of this millennium and
which take us
beyond our cultural boundaries of language, religion and political thought,
we will attempt
to give clear and precise answers. We will publish all the news that we
believe to be
accurate and credible as reliable information and most of all we will
publish it in a positive
light , being always aware that people in this field of research wish to
have the
uncomfortable truth rather than a reassuring lie.

Lastly ,these pages remain open for whichever text, information, news event
that could
interest the public within the perimeters that we have here established,
without biases of
any kind.

Subject: Great lines for job evaluations!

Great lines from job evaluations:

1. I would not allow this employee to breed.

2. This associate is really not so much of a has-been, but
more definitely a won't be.

3. Works well when under constant supervision and cornered
like a rat in a trap.

4. When she opens her mouth, it seems it is only to change

    Subject: UFO!

Hi everyone!

I had an incredible sighting about two weeks ago while driving home one
night with a few friends.
It was April 12, and I was out with two of my friends, Greg and Devin.
Devin was giving me a ride home around 10:30 pm. I live in Portugal Cove,
which is just outside St. Johns. From St. Johns to Portugal Cove, while
driving on Portugal Cove road, you drive past Windsor Lake. This is where
the object was first sighted.
As we were driving around the lake, Greg noticed a bright whitish light in
the sky over the other side of the lake. I looked at it. It was really low,
was not blinking, and had no noise. But we just dismissed it as a
helicoptor, and ignored it.
However, I kept an eye on it as we headed towards a turn off to a road
called Old Broad Cove Rd. The object, which was hovering in the sky, was now
flying quite fast. Then it stopped. This is where I knew it was something
more than a helicoptor.
Soon we were driving past the lake, and the object was now flying towards
the road. Greg and I kept looking at it while Devin kept driving. It was
low, and it was close. And there was still no sound. As we passed a store,
the craft flew directly over the road. At this point Devin was becomming
hysterical, as was Greg. When the craft flew over the road, it looked like
it was cigar shaped, with a bunch of white lights and a blue light on the
right end. The object was now above us, about a telephone pole's height
above the ground. We soon approached Murray's Pond Fishing Club. Devin
pulled over on the side of the road and the craft then flew over the pond.
There it hovered for about 2 minutes. It was amazing! It was so low, yet
there was no sound at all. But now, at this angle, it was clearly triangular
in shape. It was very thin, completely black except for the blue and white
lights on the bottom. It can't remember exactly how many lights were there;
I was too facinated by the craft. As it hovered over the pond, you could
clearly see its reflection on the water. Greg and Devin were now hysterical.
They've never seen a UFO before, and now they are right next to one. Then
the object moved slowely away and flew right over the trees, with its lights
lighting up the forest. Then it was gone.
Later that night, my mother called me and told me that her and my father
were driving home and seen a white object with blue lights at 11:00pm. I
asked where it was, and they told me Murray's Garden Centre, which is across
the road from where we had watched it. I don't know if it was the same
object, but the time, place, and description is pretty close.
I'd estimate we seen the object first around 10:40. By the time it left
it was close to 10:55. I can't remember the exact time since I was too busy
watching the object. It seemed to be about the size of a large helicoptor.
It was a clear night, and planes, stars, and the moon were also visable. It
was definatly one of the most facinating BT's I've ever seen. I've never
seen one that close before, and so clearly.
Please let me know what you think about this one. I probably left some
stuff out, so question me on it. If anyone has any answers, let me know!
To try to give you a better idea of the UFO, I used PaintShop Pro 6 to
try to make some images of the sighting. Go to the address below.

Scores of UFO Enthusiasts Flock To Nevada Desert To Witness Planetary
Alignment

4-27-00

GLENDALE, Calif (PRNewswire) - On May 5, 2000, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter,
Mercury and Venus will align with our planet, the sun and the moon for the
first time in 6,000 years -- an astrological phenomenon that some believe
will create a vortex in outer space and allow extraterrestrial life to visit
earth. Psychics, astrologers, pyramid experts, prophesiers of the apocalypse
and Nostradamus all predict that the extraordinary planet configuration will
bring chaos to earth.

On the eve of this historic five-planet alignment, masses of UFO enthusiasts
donning intergalactic costumes will converge upon the world-famous Little
A'Le'Inn, located on the Extraterrestrial Highway (Highway 375), near the
military's Groom Dry Lake base (known to conspiracy theorists as "Area 51").
To mark this historic event and celebrate the May 2 home video and DVD
release of the $70 million hit comedy film Galaxy Quest, DreamWorks Home
Entertainment will dedicate of the world's first alien beacon -- a giant
flying saucer emitting a powerful beam of light into cosmos to welcome all
inter-galactic and terrestrial visitors. DreamWorks also will host an alien
costume contest awarding TV/VCR combos and cash to the winners, followed by
a free outdoor screening of Galaxy Quest to entertain the crowds as they
await the prophesized alien arrivals.

The Little A'Le'Inn, a quaint motel and restaurant 115 miles northwest of
Las Vegas, has long been a mecca for UFO believers because of its close
proximity to Groom Dry Lake Air Force Base. The highly secretive government
installation is rumored to house alien remains from an alleged UFO crash
that took place in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Since then, the area has
developed mythical status and continues to draw crowds of UFO aficionados
and conspiracy theorists from across the globe.

Galaxy Quest, the fun-filled and action-packed space ODD-yssey features a
stellar cast including Tim Allen (Home Improvement, The Santa Clause),
three-time Academy Award(R) nominee Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, A Map of the
World), Alan Rickman (Die Hard, Sense and Sensibility), Tony Shalhoub (A
Civil Action), Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile), Daryl Mitchell (Home Fries)
and Enrico Colantoni (Stigmata).

FILM SYNOPSIS

They're not astronauts ... they only played them on TV.

For four adventurous years, "Commander Peter Quincy Taggart" (Tim Allen),
"Doctor Lazarus" (Alan Rickman), and "Gwen DeMarco" (Sigourney Weaver)
risked their lives on dangerous missions in space aboard the NSEA
Protector -- until their series was cancelled. Twenty years later, the stars
of Galaxy Quest are still on a mission, appearing at science fiction
conventions for far-out fans. But when a group of aliens intercept the
show's television transmissions and mistake them for "historical documents"
they beam the crew into space to help them in their all-too-real war against
a deadly adversary. Now, with no script, no director and no clue, the actors
have to turn in the performances of their lives to become the heroes the
Thermians believe them to be ... .

In keeping with the film's sharp wit, DreamWorks Home Entertainment is
pushing the envelope with the Galaxy Quest DVD. In an intergalactic first,
the Galaxy Quest DVD will boast a Thermian language track -- a dubbed and
synched audio featuring the screeching language of the movie's friendly
aliens. The DVD also features seven deleted scenes, over ten minutes of
additional, hilarious footage, that further explore the characters and key
scenes of the film. Also included is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at
the making of the movie, entitled "On Location In Space." The program is a
fun backstage look at talent at work, as well as a glimpse at the
technological advances and challenges involved in making the movie. Other
DVD extras include the theatrical trailer, production notes, cast and crew
bios, with all-new sound bites from the talent, and much more!

Galaxy Quest is directed by Dean Parisot ("Home Fries"), who won an Academy
Award(R) for his short film "The Appointments of Dennis Jennings." The film
is produced by Academy Award(R) winner Mark Johnson ("Rain Man") and Charles
Newirth. The screenplay is by David Howard and Robert Gordon, from a story
by David Howard. The executive producer is Elizabeth Cantillon, with Suzann
Ellis and Sona Gourgouris serving as co-producers.

In honor of this intergalactic event, a group of GALAXY QUEST Thermians, one
of the films' hilarious alien contingents, will be on hand to co-host the
event with DreamWorks. The Thermians, who flew to Earth from the Klatu
Nebula to recruit the unwitting cast of a hit sci-fi show from the 1970s in
their desperate war against their arch rivals, will join Rachel, Nevada
residents, Area 51 conspiracy theorists, UFO believers, astrologers, among
others for a once-in-a-lifetime evening under the heavens.

DreamWorks SKG was formed in October 1994, by its three principal partners,
Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen -- as a single company
to produce live-action motion pictures; animated feature films and
television programs; network, syndicated and cable television programming;
records; books; toys; consumer products and interactive entertainment.

ALERT: Solar Torpedo Ongoing event
Watching something BIG going into or towards sun at position 7:00 o'clock,
inner corona. Yet to impact or flyby.

Not sure what I am seeing yet. Need other eyes! Please forward.

Could be a moon of Jupiter, a comet, but it looks anomalous and spooky, like
the projectiles in 1998. Appears to have a tail and is planetary-planetoid
in size.

Hi all! I have only been a part of this list for about 2 weeks & I have
had something strange going on with my phone. Ever since I subscribed
to this list & 2 others that have to do with UFO's, paranormal, NWO,
conspiracy, etc. I have had this problem. Now, I'm not normally a
paranoid person but this is interesting. When I use my WebTV (which I
know can have problems all by itself), my phone rings 4-8 times. When I
answer, whoever or whatever, hangs up. When the answering machine is on,
it goes into the message &then hangs up. When I have tried to use *69
or *57, the message comes on that I cannot use that service because the
call is outside the calling area that it services. Now like I said, I'm
not normally a paranoid or skittish person but this really has me
thinking. Has this happened to anyone else on this list? It is
becoming extremely annoying to constantly have this happen & to keep
getting up to answer the phone. Not to mention to be constantly
interrupted on the 'net. hmmmm I don't know. I am curious as to what
everyone else thinks. The list is great & has been very informative. I
look foward to hearing from all of you.

Keep 'em flyin'!
Thank a vet!

Dear friends,
This story is too complicated to put down here in a few words but briefly:

It involves a family (in the US) who is being "stalked" by the F.B.I. (or
someone)
for seeing something they should not have seen. They saw a UFO being fired at
by the military. According to these people attempts have been made on their
lives. They have been drugged, the phone lines tapped, and the pursuers have
tried to drive their car off the road, even though the kids were in the car.
Plus many other things. For over two years this has been going on.
Understandably,
they are confused, angry and afraid, but that does not mean they are not telling
the truth. These are real people and I have their phone number, e-mail and home
address. So I believe what they are saying is true.
They are in fear of their lives and are very suspicious of anyone who calls
them. So if you call by phone please make sure they can see the ID of who is
calling. It would be a good idea to e-mail them first.
The man's name is Ron, and Sandy his wife and two children, Dillon and Rylee.

Here is their e-mail address, home address and phone number.
XpacNao@... <mailto:XpacNao@...>
"We live at rt 1 box 423-D, co. rd. MU 60 Negaunee Michigan, 49866,
phone 906-475-5586, but do be told, the FBI along with AT&T/AMERITECH
did illegally put line blocks on our telephone lines and have been
monitoring our phones / calls ever since this video was known to them. "
By the way, Ron says they have hundereds of video clips which prove what he
is saying is true.
I must point out that these people have been discredited by the authorities
and media and are very upset. Please be understanding and diplomatic with them.

Please keep me informed on what you find.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Belief in afterlife can make you live longer, study says
Lack of faith blamed for 43,000 deaths

    Richard Foot
    National Post

TORONTO - Going to church may not guarantee you a heavenly afterlife,
but it will help you live longer in the here and now, according to
research by a medical professor at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Chandrakant Shah, a physician and professor of public health
sciences, says a fifth of all Canadian deaths -- about 43,000 deaths
each year -- can be blamed on poor spiritual beliefs. Dr. Shah says
that if Canadians attended religious services more frequently, said
their prayers more often, or placed more faith in the powers of a
celestial creator, they would live longer and healthier lives.

"There are beneficial results from being a spiritual person," he says
in research released yesterday. "It reduces stress, promotes healthy
lifestyles and increases social connectedness: all improve the health
and well-being of individuals and are associated with lower
    mortality."

The study is the first in Canada to take a widely held academic
assumption that spiritual people have healthier lives and apply that
theory to Canadian public health and mortality statistics.

Dr. Shah describes spirituality not only as a belief in God or
participation in traditional religion, but as "the beliefs, values and
behaviours a person holds concerning his place in the universe, and
which reflects one's connections with a higher power and one's social
    and physical environment."

He says spirituality takes two forms. The inner form involves faith in
a "higher power" and the sense of security or "inner peace" that comes
from that faith. The outer form involves the connection someone feels
    with their fellow humans.

Feeling more connected makes someone more "caring, sharing,
compassionate and respectful" as an individual, says Dr. Shah.

If spirituality brings more "inner peace," it also lessens the need
for "pleasure-seeking behaviours" -- drinking, smoking, gluttony,
promiscuous sex or material gain. The study says that both forms of
spiritual faith bring with them better physical health.

"Many individuals consider that having material things such as a
Mercedes or Lexus will make them happy," writes Dr. Shah, who
describes himself as a spiritual, but non-religious person. "To
achieve material gains, people are constantly on the go and face all
types of stress ... However, people with inner peace are contented
people and are not in a rat race."

Drawing data from Canada's National Population Health Surveys in the
mid-1990s, Dr. Shah used three measurements to gauge the spirituality
of Canadians -- weekly attendance at religious activities, levels of
"social connectedness" [or personal relationships] and levels of
    personal stress.

With information from those studies -- including the fact that in 1997
only 59% of Canadians took part in regular religious worship -- Dr.
Shah used epidemiological formulae to calculate that 43,000 deaths
each year are "potentially attributable" to low levels of
    spirituality.

If as many as 80% of Canadians participated in weekly worship, the
research predicts the number of deaths attributable to low levels of
    spirituality would fall to 23,000.
