Due to the spam on this list, my ISP started bouncing emails from this group
with this
message:
------------------------------------------------------------
Remote host said: 552 5.2.0 Cv1e1Z0054fou6901v1fsd Message Refused. A URL in the
content of your message was found on block lists: http://www.surbl.org and
http://www.uribl.com.
For resolution do not contact Cox Communications, contact the block list
administrators.
------------------------------------------------------------
Now normally I wouldn't care (theoretically , it is spam and should be bounced),
but Yahoo
decided that the bounced emails were a problem and countered by stopping ALL
Yahoo
Groups mail to my address.
This list is slow enough to be fully moderated, don't you think? In any case, I
am
unsubscribing so I don't get bounced again, but if the list does become fully
moderated I
would appreciate an email from the moderator saying so.

Yes, I know that would/will work, and is the 'more correct procedure', it's just
that I have
burned many mixed CDs and deleted the playlists (long ago).
It's certainly not a solution for me to re-rip all the tracks (which amounts to
many
gigabytes) and reassemble the playlists just so UnCoverit can get a few
Kilobytes of text.
What puzzles me is that my system (iTunes etc.) displays the correct titles, but
UnCoverit
does not, which is why I am asking here.
I suppose it's a kind of enhancement request, but really it feels like a bug (or
at least the
software is not managing my expectations as well as it could) when I select a
disc with the
correct titles using the UnCoverit user interface and then UnCoverit generates a
cover with
the generic (i.e. wrong) titles.
The correct titles must be stored 'somewhere' on my Mac, even if the playlist
has long
been deleted, so I think it's reasonable to expect a specialist tool like
Uncoverit to be able
to... uncover them!
Brennan
Hey there,
I'm also a registered user (have been for years). So, if I understand
you correctly, this should work.
Try this,
First, don't delete the playlist. Make a label from the playlist.
If you try to make a label from that CD, what you're getting is
exactly what it will give you since are using a burned Audio CD. If
you stick that burned CD into another system (if I understand you
correctly) it will say the same thing as what you're getting in
UnCoverit. iTunes doesn't add any data (like song titles) to Audio
CDs. It will for mp3 CDs but that's not what it sounds like you're
burning.
Hope that helps,
If it's not entirely clear, please let me know and I'll try to reword
it. Sometimes what sounds fine to me, doesn't to others...

Hi folks,
I am a registered user. (FWIW) I've just been playing around with 2.3 a3 and I
am still
having a problem (reported by email about a year ago, which received a
non-helpful
reply). I'm posting here to see if anyone can help out.
Problem: Can't make an Audio CD cover from a disc I have made myself, and then
whose
playlist has been deleted from iTunes.
Steps to repro:
Make a mixed playlist in iTunes from AIFF, WAV or lossless files.
(For the sake of a test, two songs is enough)
Burn an Audio CD from it in iTunes.
Delete the playlist (and the associated files) from your iTunes library.
Eject the CD
Re-insert CD
Mac OSX (and iTunes) recognises the disc, and the song titles. (Great!)
Try getting uncoverit to make an AudioCD cover from it.
Expected results: Song and disc titles appear as they do in iTunes - with
correct names
Actual results: Song titles are "Untitled 1.aiff", "Untitled 2.aiff"... etc.
I have tried every which way, but Uncoverit either insists on connecting to the
internet to
get the song titles (duh!) or seems to overlook some database somewhere and goes
with
the default names. Any ideas???
*****************************************************
Now for a bug report:
Issue: Text refuses to show up in text fields
New cover, source 'None' (or whatever)
Make a new text area with the type tool
Double click text area
Type something into the "custom text" of the text area properties dialog.
Close dialog.
Expected results: Text should appear
Actual results: No text appears
Note: double-clicking again shows that the text is there in the properties
dialog, it's just
not showing up.
*****************************************************
Finally a few feature requests concerning the layout tools:
Most (as in 'almost all') graphics editors follow the convention that
Shift+Arrow keys
moves an object 10 pixels at a time instead of 1 pixel at a time. Uncoverit
could benefit
greatly from this feature
Most (as in 'almost all') graphics editors follow the convention that Shift+Drag
moves an
object only horizontally or vertically. Uncoverit could benefit greatly from
this feature too!
A great many tools (especially those originating from Macromedia) follow the
convention
that Alt+drag duplicates an object. Uncoverit could benefit greatly from this
feature.
Resize handles should not be zoomed when the view is zoomed. It makes life kinda
difficult and actually works against having a zoom in the first place.
I would like to see some kind of 'align' tool (similar to the one in Flash or
Freehand) so that
I can align objects easily without having to keep typing X and Y values into the
inspector.
Ok that's all griping for now. I am sure there are some more issues, but these
are the ones
that have been bothering me for too long. I hope they'll be attended to soonish.
Keep up
the good work!

Thanks for the update notice. I only use UncoverIt for CD/MP3 disc covers and
this version
seems to be getting cover artwork very fast. I haven't used it yet much to see
what other
changes there are. One thing that always bothered me was the lack of typical CD
template
though! I could never find one at least. I uploaded my template in the Files
section of this
group. It features one place for cover artwork and one place for track listing.
Very basic,
but very typical; also note that I butt the 2 pieces of artwork so there is one
less cut to
make when cutting your printed piece out. Comes in handy especially if cutting
out a lot of
covers at once!
Also, I think there is too much blank space between the end of a song title and
the
beginning of the track length. This makes having to print the listing at a
smaller point size
than desired, especially if there happens to be one very long song title, or if
you want to
print in more than one column. Ideally it would be great if I could adjust that
space as you
can in the program Disc Cover, available at http://www.belightsoft.com/main.php.

Yes, I tried then and also today, nothing changes

Yes.
Also, if I double click between the handles a window opens (Image
Panel) and the image is visible inside the window. I think the image
is there, just not shown in the label I pasted it in.
Thanks again,

Maybe there is another element on the cover with white fill color
that's above the picture area containing your iPhoto image?
Did you try to use the Move Forward/Backward buttons to get the image
area above the other area?
When you save the cover file containing the invisible image, does the
file size change significantly?

Hi Izzy,
is there a crash log file written when this happens. If so, it should
be saved to Library/Logs/CrashReporter in your home directory. This
file would be quite helpful in diagnosing the problem.

Dear UnCoverIt Users,
a new development version of UnCoverIt is available for you to download from
this URL:
<http://www.iwascoding.com/uc/UnCoverIt_2.2a1.dmg>
What's new in this version:
- fixed problems with importing UnCoverIt 2.0 files where covers would not open,
images
were not displayed and UnCoverIt could crash after documents were closed
- UnCoverIt is now a universal binary (runs on PPC and Intel Macs)
What happend to the 2.1 version ?
Because of switch to universal binary several third party libraries had to be
updated and a
different compiler version is used. That's why I decided to change the version
to 2.2.
Please note that the system requirement have changed. You will need at least
version 10.3.9
of MacOS X to start UnCoverIt 2.2. For users of older systems the last beta of
UnCoverIt 2.1 is
still available from the website.
Thanks for using UnCoverIt,

beta 11 of UnCoverIt 2.1 is out.
Here is the download link:
<http://www.iwascoding.com/uc/UnCoverIt_2.1b11.dmg>
What's new:
- default FreeDB server now points to freedb.freedb.org (the old default wasn't
working
anymore)
- removed expiration timer
Regards,

I import text for my back CD covers all the time: this may be a review,
some info about the disc or the artist, etc.
This may not exactly be what you're looking to do since I don't place
it in track info area:
•Highlight the text you want to import, whether from a WP program, web
page, whatever.
•Copy it: "command-C" (I use a Mac, so translate that for your
particular platform)
•In your UnCoverIt document, create a text box by using the text tool
and a window will come up where you can
•Paste "command-V" that text into the "Custom" box,
then, most likely you'll need to change settings for type size, style,
etc.
