Abstract: Call a finite lattice representable if it is isomorphic to the
congruence lattice of a finite algebra. It is (still) an open question which
finite lattices are representable. We will cover a few constructions under
which the class of representable lattices is closed. In the process, we will
prove that every finite lattice in the variety generated by $M_3$ is
representable. We will then survey several open problems related to the
representation problem.
