Hello, this Greg.

My friends and I are working on a public service website to help
students from poor communities. It is a website to help concerned
Filipinos start, organize and gather help for education-related
projects. For example, imagine starting your own scholarship
foundation for your barangay and getting donations in $5 increments
from someone in California, or someone from Sweden, or a donation via
your mobile phone. Or, a project to train teachers in the web
development. Or, a project that gathers volunteer doctors to offer
free checkups to students in Payatas.

Our goal is to help you get started, organized, gather support, and
spread your vision so you could help solve the many chronic problems
facing poor students.

However, we can't build the website if we can't get help ourselves :)

We are a bunch web developers, mostly on the backend side but we know
how to build a UI. All of us are volunteers only - no pay, no
allowance. Gratification comes from knowing that our work will help a
lot of poor people.

But still, we lack the manpower to get things done. We need help on
the UI side - someone who can design and construct. We value usability
and accessibility and I guarantee you won't get resistance with
regards to these matters. We are using Ruby on Rails - the hottest web
development tool on the planet today :) So, if you join us, we will
gladly teach you how to program in Ruby.
