Friday, June 16, 2006 Dear Qute tester, I am writing with exciting news about Qute, and update on its development status, and a request for guidance from you. First, the exciting news: Quest Software has acquired Qute! Quest understands the importance of unit testing in the PL/SQL environment and believes that Qute will be a a valuable addition to its suite of Oracle development tools. Our plan at this point is to make the tool publicly available in October 2006, which leaves us just four months to add critical functionality and smooth out the rough edges of Qute. Here is the current state of affairs: we are about to freeze Version 1.1.3, which has many significant improvements, including: ** The test case grid is now available when creating a new test definition, adding a unit test to an existing test definition and simply adding test cases to an existing unit test. The grid itself is also reorganized to make it easier to use.
** Test case generation based on interesting values is much more flexible and useful. You can set the interesting values before you generate, though we give you a reasonable starting set. ** You can now create test definitions for programs with XMLTYPE arguments. We have not yet, however, added any XML-specific assertion checks. That is still to come.... Of course, there is much left to do, and a limited amount of time/resources. Which leads me to my request of you: Please tell me which features need to be added to Qute to make it a product you would use day-in, day-out as you develop your code. You can play an important role in the direction of the most powerful unit testing tool for Oracle developers. You can simply reply to this email or use one of these other mechanisms:
