Texas Student Conference on Alternatives to Corporate
Globalization

Students from all over the state will be attending a
student conference on alternatives to corporate
globalization from Oct 18th to the 20th in Austin,
Texas. The conference is being hosted by the Texas
Fair Trade Coalition and its purpose is to bring
student activists from all over Texas to learn about
the movement against corporate globalization and to
unite their resistance.
The featured speaker is Noam Chomsky who will speak at
the conference on Saturday and at UT Austin again on
Sunday. Other speakers will include Bob Jensen, a
professor in journalism at UT, Lenore Palladino from
United Students Against Sweatshops, Martha Ojeda from
the Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras and a
panel on organizing in multi-racial
coalitions/organizations. Student leadership is
necessary in organizing every aspect of this
conference, including workshop topics and presenters,
other national & regional speakers we might invite,
etc.
The Texas Fair Trade Coalition will be happy to assist
people in any way it can, including providing
accommodation for those who want to stay the full
