There seems to be two DITA groups in Canada - this one and Toronto.
I am just getting involved with some DITA projects and am trying to
get my head around what DITA is all about.
Right now I am puzzling over what is required to convert unstructured
FrameMaker Document to structured DITA compliant FrameMaker documents.
I can only find 2 references on the web providing $/page estimates.
The first is $10/page (up to 800 pages) and $3/page (for 801+).
The second estimate is about 4 hours per page by a tech writer (??
$40+/page assuming $10/hour - what is a typical tech writer pay??)
Almost 1/2 of this time was spent on making the documents
consistently formstted prior to any conversion.
Anyone else have any sort of metric?? Yes I know it is like asking
how much to drain the swamp but at this stage I am looking for orders
of magnitude.
Cheers...Hugh
