Actually, yes, let's talk about the definition again. I'm sure its
been at least six months since the last argu.. discussion. And
there's a whole lot more new people in here now who have fallen for
the hype that videoblogging is just a blog with video.
The reason we need to discuss it, is because RocketBoom's loss of
Amanda has absolutely consumed this list for the last few days, and
while I certainly feel for anyone who loses their job, its just a
fu.. err, damn TV show!
We're here to talk about videoblogging, and we don't even agree on
what it is. I would have thought that a prime candidate for
discussion on a "videoblogging" email list. And while such
discussions certainly get bogged down, they need to happen every six
months or so both to remind us the current state of our insular
community within in the big world of media, and to remind us that
we're supposed to be here sticking it to the man!
Cries of "not again", while perfectly understandable, are not
particularly conducive to us moving forward.
For the record, and the new people, we still don't know exactly what
videoblogging is. Most of us have an idea of what we think it is, but
we certainly don't agree by a long stretch.
