I found out about this from AppScout. It is CNN attempt to network
with CJ's and Vloggers. You shoot news, they post it on the
iReport.com web site. http://beta.ireport.com
If you record something of interest they may air it on CNN. I didn't
see anything about compensation if that happens so...?
Anyway, I did a quick sweep of the terms of use (TOU) and they are
asking for non-exclusive but perpetual right to the material. Most of
it is pretty standard but what will interest many of you is their DCMA
policy.
It is better than most. They seem to make it easy to contest a DMCA
pull order and you can submit a Counter Notification and they will
restore it unless there has not been a court order.
This could be good or bad. The process that a person has to follow to
invoke the DCMA removal seems to shut out the random hot head who
doesn't like displays of naked fruit.
However this is not going to stop anyone from a corporation with a
pack of lawyers from coming at you.
There are also short tutorials attached to the site and an opportunity
to network with CJ's, newsies and other participatory media folks.
