*Human Rights Watch ("HRW") is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the
position of Video and Photography Manager in its Communications Department.*

* *

*Description**: *The Video and Photography Manager, under the direction of
the Video and Photography Director and with overall supervision by the
Director of Communications, will work to: create and edit HRW multimedia;
review and service internal and external requests for HRW visual content;
manage all video production; negotiate clearance and usage rights for all
visual media assets used in HRW products; manage consultants ranging from
editors, videographers and producers of video content; edit video for
special projects as needed; produce video news releases; work with experts
in crafting an asset management system for HRW's visual content, including
overseeing the conversion process, establishing a digital archive, and
creating an editing and review system and professional distribution process;
maintain physical archive of both professionally produced and HRW produced
visual content; manage all video duplication and processing for HRW; build
all in-house DVDs for press, donors, advocacy, program and others; research
and edit visual content for use in web, print, video and other multimedia
projects; train staff to gather visual content in the field, initiate
pre-mission meetings with researchers to determine most effective and
achievable multimedia products for advocacy goals; budget for grant
proposals for multimedia projects and facilities; create presentations of
multimedia content for meetings; purchase, maintain, distribute and track
staff usage of A/V equipment (audio recorders, cameras and camcorders);
provide technical oversight for major Human Rights Watch events; produce
flash slideshows for the web and events; liaise/advise with internal and
external web developers on special projects; participate in special projects
such as the www.hrw.org redesign; and other tasks as may be assigned.



*Qualifications**:* The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of
related experience in broadcast news or human rights work, specifically in:
producing video for broadcast online and projection; preparing and
co-producing online photo and video reports, including flash development;
electronic media management; licensing of intellectual property; and video
and photo research for news and/or documentaries. The candidate must also
have demonstrated knowledge of the following programs: Final Cut Pro, Pro
Tools or other sound editing software, Photoshop, Flash, Adobe Creative
Suite, some html and web editing capacity also required. Candidates must be
extremely well-organized, collegial, and able to function effectively in a
fast-paced environment. S/he must have excellent communication skills in
oral and written English. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is
required.
