there's a good itunes plugin called eyephedrine.. A large selection of different visuals (80 i think). Most are extremely tacky, but there are some very good...

it may be overkill for you, but MaxMSP/Jitter would do this for you. You would have to either build it yourself or find someones already built patches online. ...
