to those who care to know, videobloggers.org is back up after 3 days
downtime for maintenance.
also, the service now supports subdomains (vlogname.videobloggers.org) for ease.
i plan to work on several items over the next few months to make the
videoblog and media hosting service better and more intuitive.
remember, this service is strictly for public domain and/or creative
commons licensed content, as per the ibiblio.org terms and conditions.
videobloggers.org is just a front-end service to ibiblio, the same
way ourmedia.org is a front-end service to archive.org. one never
need worry about these terms changing. it will always be a free
hosting service for videobloggers without busine$$ agendas.
the blog publishing features are going to be made available to beta
testers in about a week, whereas the media upload/management features
have been accessible for the past 6 weeks.
thanks to all who have helped beta test.

I guess I don't understand how to use your site. I would like to.
Is this something I need to setup somehow? Please pardon my ignorance.

Hi.
Yes, Taylor. It is not integrated with any other service such as vlogdir.com, if that is what you thought. videobloggers.org is an alternative to ourmedia.org or blip.tv. You can use it as a mirror source or primary.
the intentions are to help alleviate some of the vlog community hosting
services storage/bandwidth, providing vloggers with more options to get
thier media distributed.
You would need to register for this service. Click on the 'hosting' link in top menu to do so.
Currently, the videoblog name you choose will be used as the
subdomain. I considered making the username you choose to be the
subdomain instead (like blip.tv) but decided against it for now.
What do you think? Blip.tv style or blogger.com style?
videobloggers.org is both a blog and media hosting service. at
this time, I have only activated media hosting and management features
for users, since that is more important as all of you already have
blogs setup elsewhere. However, the blog publishing engine will
be turned on within a week for 2nd phase of beta testing. I will
setup a few blog templates to choose from, like those you see on
blogger or wordpress etcetera. More info will be provided soon.
I am aware of some issues and have resumed actively developing the
service and will work on bugs and User Interface as much as I can in my
limited spare time.
All of this is made possible by ibiblio.org, one of the largest
online digital archives based at the University of North
Carolina. The partnership aims to support the videoblog culture
by providing free resources and publishing/distribution services for
Open Content Creators. No commercial content is allowed.
Automated BitTorrent support of hosted media will be supported soon as well.
I encourage the continued use of any and all services that are
available to us. This is just another free resource for vloggers
and only vloggers.
Hope this helps. Email me off-list with questions or support requests. michael @ videobloggers.org
