Hello folks,
I'm writing this email to tell you about some news from Viralator
project. It was a long time ago since the last release and finally I
got some excitement to the community.
The next release is almost done and we're very close of a version 1
stable release. I would like to put all features requests in this
version and keep version 0.9.9 just for minor adjustments or bug
fixes. Since I start working with the Viralator group, we added
a lot of new features and I think is time for a stable release to be
around.
Version 0.9.8 includes the following new features:
1 - Viralator nows include a detailed file log, in the model of the
Log4J project (many thanks for the developers of Log:Log4perl
module!). This means that nows is possible to setup log level for
different parts of the program. Apache's log file will be used by now
for only the messages that could not be catched up (in other words, a
complete disaster).
2 - Viralator web browser nows can use Squid as a proxy, which means
Squid cache will be available, improving user experience by provinding
a better time response. In case of virus infection, Viralator will
request to Squid to remove the object from it's cache (there is a
configuration in Squid to enable that).
3 - A new Javascript control is available to avoid users to make
download requests twice (or more time).
If you would like to ask for a feature in Viralator, this is your best
chance to see it implemented! New features will be added just after
version 1.0: huge changes will be implemented in Viralator then. For
those users eager to see better performance or web page templates to
change, Viralator will became a full MVC web application running with
mod_perl and with a separated/dedicated server to handle the virus
scanner program.
