Hello,
I'm pleased to announce you with Christian Legrand, the availability of our new
Virtual Moon Atlas Pro version 3.5 :
SOFTWARE NEW FEATURES:
The database manager "DATLUN" :
EXCLUSIVE : Patrick has programmed "DATLUN", a powerful database manager that
allows you to select on several criteria, the formations that interest specially
you.
Featuring a "basic" and an "advanced" mode, explained by an illustrated user's
manual, with it you will be able to visualize on the map, for example, all the
lunar rilles more than 20 km long, or all the craters with flat floor !
DATABASE UPDATE :
"Historical sites" :
To thank European Space Agency (ESA) for its support to VMA, data about European
probe SMART-1 impact on the Moon have been added in the "Historical sites"
database.
NEW PICTURES LIBRARIES :
The new "Apollo Mapping Cameras" picture library :
The Lunar and Planetary Institute authorized Christian to extract from the
"Apollo Mapping Cameras" pictures put online by the Lunar and Planetary
Institute, individual formations pictures and include them in the VMA pictures
libraries. These pictures are the more detailed ever obtained from some
formations ! With its near 700 pictures, this new unique library can be accessed
through the "Configuration / Image" menu as the older.
The new "Best of Amateurs" pictures library :
Some of the best world lunar imagers have kindly accepted some of their pictures
to be included in a special library dedicated to VMA. Compiled by Christian,
this new pictures library contains presently about 400 pictures (provided kindly
by Craig Zerbe, Mike Wirths, Wes Higgins, Zac Pujic and Paolo Lazzarotti)
sometimes are as good as those of some lunar probes !
Adding these two new libraries permit to VMA users to look at more than 6 000
lunar formations pictures.
As usual, this new version is freely downloadable from our site
http://astrosurf.com/avl/UK_index.html
or is available on a CD that we can burn on demand (See conditions on site).
Sincerely yours,
Christian Legrand & Patrick Chevalley
