Hi,
first of all I've to say that VMidiJoy is a very nice idea!
Here some suggestions and problems I encountered during my tests:
Problem: The joystick callibration seems to be wrong if a new patch is
loaded (The needles at the view window are completely at the right side
and the midi data looks like randomized. It's reproducable every time at
the program start or if a "VMidiJoy Prog Change" occurs). The problem
can be temporarly solved for a loaded patch by clicking on the "partial
range" or "full range" pull down menu (has to be done for every axes
that should deliver correct data). If the patch is saved in that state
and reloaded the problem reoccurs.
Suggestion: It whould be nice if one could use buttons as a sort of
state toggle (e.g. x axis without a button: modulation, y axis woab:
pitch, x axis with button one: portamento, y axis wb one: breath etc.)
All one needs to accomplish such a behaviour whould be a "VMidiJoy Prog
Change on button release" sort of event. Than I could create a
x=mod,y=pitch-patch that calls a x=port,y=breath-patch if the button one
is pressed. The latter one than itself calls the former one if the
button is released again.
Greetings,
Ferdinand Strixner
P.S.: hubert_bere stated here
(
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vmidijoy/message/75) that he had a
similar problem with the patch-loading. He wrote that he found a work
around with midiox. Does anyone know how I can accomplish the Prog
Change behaviour with MIDIOX? (I found the data map facility but
couldn't figure out how to change data maps through midi events or
something like that...)
