Stargazers,
Chris and I really enjoyed our couple of hours observing session
tonight. Mosquitos were light, but biting none-the-less. Clouds
eventually chased us out after 10:30 pm. Thanks you, Chris, for coming
all the way down from Newport News. Congratulations on the new mount
for you 6-inch Dob. You did a great job on it.
Chris had his 6-in. and 8-in. Dobs out. I had the LTHI on my magic
carpet. I know that this isn't normal for avid astronomers, but I
really do love observing the Moon. The Southern Highlands are amazing.
I can't wait to see what data and maps we get out of the LRO and
LCROSS missions. It was a little warm out there tonight. I would have
appreciated a little more of a breeze to just float some of those
pesky bugs out of the way. There continued to be sucker holes for us
to chase our scopes through for at least a couple of hours. It was
great to start the holiday weekend off with an AstroBuddy relaxing and
putting everything back into perspective. Thanks, Chris, and thank
you, Hampton Parks & Recreation for allowing us access to such a great
urban astronomy site.
Clear Dark Skies,
Bird
