What a way to bring a web site to it's knees. I wonder when it will recover?

Wait, Im confused.

"If you buy Vue 5 Infinite or the Vue 5 xStream Bundle now, you will
receive your free upgrade to Vue 6 Infinite/xStream when it is
released (download version, node-locked). Click here for more info on
Vue 5 Infinite and Vue 5 xStream Bundle."

Does this come into effect on November 1st?

Ashe Raven

No need to wait! Make the best of this amazing offer today!

Hmmmm... That's pretty good. One day late?

I've never seen a company make it so close to their release date
(which is why most of them don't give out dates!).

Thanks a lot for this posting.

The laatest 3DCommune newsletter had this to say:

The boxed version of Vue 6 Infinite should arrive around December.
Meanwhile, from November 1st, Vue 5 Infinite will include a free
access to the pre-release version of Vue 6 Infinite for a public
price of $695!

What is a pre-release?
The pre-release is a version of the software that has undergone
internal and external testing but not yet validated a mass-testing
experience. This process is required by our new quality control
system before the manufacture of boxed versions.

getting it free, I'm trying not to panic too much.

Brtacha though, it's late as with most releases :p

I know it wasn't a promise, but E-On mentioned they wanted to
pre-release Vue 6 Infinite in October 2006.

Well, we have one more day left. Anyone know if they are going to
make it by their own deadline?

Any rumors?

I'm drumming my fingers on the table. Waiting.
Waiting...

....Just..... Waiting...

Thank you for your comments. I belive I have improved to the
atmosphere a little with this image giving it a more Silent Hill feel.

I hoep you like this improvment. Utilising Vue, Poser, Anime Studioo
and Paint Shop Pro.

How wonderfully atmospheric! After seeing a million landscapes (or
still lifes) done with Vue it's so refreshing to see someone really
pushing the envelope (in an impressive way!) of what this software can
really accomplish -- keep up the great work!!!! :D

First of all let me say hello

"Hello"

Now I woudl liek to comment on how exciting the animated billboard
feature was to a 2D animator like myself. I am a dedicated user of
both Vue and Anime Studio pro and when Infinate offered me the
opportunity to utilise both through the use of animated alpha planes
and the bill board feature my heart skipped a beat. I have developed
some work using this feature but I am in the process of tidying up a
few rough edges. I will show you this though

It's a chracter from my Silent Hill fan movie created in Anime Studio
then imported as an alpha plane into Vue 5 Infinate. I will put up
some animated sequences soon. But this is but a small example of what
I've been able to achive which has added some much needed atmosphere
to my work. I hope you like it

Nice idea for the site, but I think a couple of constructive
comments are in order-

1. You should have got a team of you friends together before
launching the site - that way, you would have more stuff going on,
more posts, etc.

2. Scrap the 5-post rule for URLs - it kills the interest,
especially as you don't have anything going on for people to post
comments on. You can't expect everyone to turn up and start using
the site, and then get there posts total up enough to participate
fully - they already have to register to access the site anyway.

Not trying to knock you (I'm your only other registered member at
the moment, after all)so please don't take offence.

Hi, Cobus ~

The render time is not a problem for me - perhaps you are
replying to Tim's post?

With this piece - particularly with regards to the crystal
material - I am not working toward print output.

I am working toward high-definition digital projection
output for planetarium domes that are, at minimum, fifty
feet across.

I actually have to *upsample* from 600 dpi images in order
to get enough pixels to produce a clear picture, using
Genuine Fractals PrintPro.

However, when I do print my work, I have it printed at 600
dpi, because the quality of the print is so much better.

By way of current events, AnimePaper has just accepted my
submission of *STARRY WISDOM*, which can be viewed here:

*STARRY WISDOM*
http://tinyurl.com/z6r6e

Membership in the AnimePaper Community is required in order
to download their images in a larger format, but I see that
the Moderators were kind enough to include the link to the
*enormous* and original image, which is still up on my own site:

I think part of your problem may be because it was rendered at 600 dpi. Colour
images for print output don't need to go higher than 300 dpi. Anything above
that is overkill.

Hi, Tim ~

What can I say? In my experience, rendering complicated
transparent crystalline substances with volumetrics takes time.

Vue's "guesstimator" had originally suggested a render
time of four hours, before the render had reached the
Trapezohedron.

Hi, all ~

Just completed a test render using a crystalline
material I've been developing for a few weeks now.

There is no post work on this piece, and I have put
it up at the size that it was rendered - 600 dpi.

Here is a link to the 7.01 MB bitmap:

Took my 3D-BOXX four days.

These are the FAQ for the Vue d'Esprit discussion list. They are not really
questions and answers. These are a few lines to describe our identity and little
rules. Please read them before you start posting to the group.

Every topic related to Vue d'Esprit, it's use, and available specific resources
for it (such as tutorials, models, etc.) is on topic here.
Also generally accepted are topics that involve other graphic software as long
as it's a software that can be effectively used together with, or in enhancement
of, Vue d'Esprit.
Also generally accepted are topics containing information about generic
resources for 3D art that can be of effective use with Vue d'Esprit. Also
accepted is any discussion about the life of the list itself and it's purposes.
All other subjects are off-topic for this list.

You are going to find here a friendly place full of experienced Vue d'Esprit
users that are ready to help.
New Vue d'Esprit users are welcome and we will be happy to offer them all
possible free support.

The members of this list are invited to freely share available resources for Vue
d'Esprit, whenever it is possible for them.

We have only 5 rules, but important:

1. Users must respect each other. Insults and other serious offensive behaviour
will not be tolerated;

2. This list tolerates occasional off-topic threads, as it is our will to keep
the flow of discussion on this list as free as possible. However, the list
administrators will send warnings when an off-topic thread has gone on too long
or too far away from the scope of this list. Members are then required then to
comply to the administrator's requests;

3. Information about commercially resources available for Vue d'Esprit or for
other 3D software that can be used together with, or in enhancement of, Vue
d'Esprit is accepted, as long as it is introduced with moderation. Generally
accepted are announcement of new releases. These can be made only once for each
product. Generally accepted are also announcements of updates to a product.
These too can be made only once for each product. Both announcements of new
releases and updates will be judged in relation to their frequency. We indicate
the frequency of about one announcement of each type per month as a limit that
should not be exceeded. Generally accepted are also announcement of special
offers and promotions. These can be made only twice: the first time before the
offer starts, the second time a few days before the offer expires. Also special
offers and promotions messages will be judged in relation to their frequency. We
indicate the frequency of about one announcement of special offers/promotions
per month as a limit that should not be exceeded. The signature text of a
member can contain a link to a commercial page and a very brief description of
what it offers. Any abuse of the above guidelines will be considered as SPAM and
will lead to a public warning by the list administrators. Should the person who
broke the rules insist in the violation of the rules, he/she will be banned from
this list permanently. All the above indications about frequency of commercial
messages must be considered only as rough guidelines. All interpretation of
them, and all faculty of judgement of the above is given to the list
administrators, which are free to take any action to protect the list against
tentatives of spamming regardless of the more or less precise compliance to the
guidelines above. All commercial messages that are not related to Vue d'Esprit
or other 3D software that can be used together with, or in enhcamncement of, Vue
d'Esprit, is completely off topic, will be considered as untolerable spamming
and will lead to the immediate banning of their author(s) form this list;

4. This list does not not tolerate or support software piracy in any way.
Therefore, all members that are evidently using pirated software, or shall make
apology of software piracy, or shall distribute information about pirated
software, or shall simply ask for pirated software, will be banned from this
list with immediate effect, and their ISP information will be routed to those
who may concern so that appropriate actions might be taken by the legal owners
of the pirated software. In the spirit of support and promotion of regular use
of the software, this list will re-admit members previously banned for piracy,
should they be able to prove their legal ownership of the software they
previously pirated;

5. This list is set not to accept attachments. If you have a Vue picture and you
would like to show it to the list, the recommended method is to upload it to a
web host and post a message to the list with a ink that points to your picture.
There are many providers offering free of charge web hosting, where you can
upload your pictures to. A "Files" section is also available at our list page at
Yahoogroups. You can upload your picture there too. In this case, please create
a folder with your own name first, and upload your picture unto that folder.
Keep in mind, though, that this solution can't be permanent, because our "Files"
space is soon filled, and we have to periodically clean the files away to make
room in it.

We also ask members to kindly comply to the following two simple guidelines when
writing messages to the list:

- please change the subject of a thread when it isn't anymore appropriate, e.g.
if in a thread called "atmospheres" you move on taliking about how to import
objects, rename the thread "How to import objects (was: atmospheres)". This will
facilitate the identification of messages especially with regards to automatic
search in the archive of past messages. Leaving a bracketed reference to the
previous subject titile will help readers in getting back to where the new topic
originated from;

- please mark off-topic messages with " OT " written in the subject of the
message. This will facilitate people who does not want to read off-topic
messages, to filter them off automatically

That's all - enjoy this Vue d'Esprit list!

I want to composite a real sky in the background of an outdoor scene which
includes smoke and lens flares. I assume that one can utilize G-Buffer rendering
to retain the smoke and lensflare data over the sky's alpha channel.

But, after having done a test rendering with this option, I could not find any
additional layered data in my Photoshop rendered image.

Can somebody please help me? This has to be done for a client of mine.

   Many thanks

Yeah, I went and read more about it. I don't think there's any need to
contact them about Vue 6I because it seems pretty straightforward. I
know there's something there about upgrading from Vue 4 Pro to Vue 6
Infinite, but I'm really not concerned about upgrading. It's bad
enough I have to dig out the Vue 3.1 CD every time I want to reinstall
Vue 4, so I imagine I'll just buy Vue 5 Infinite outright, full package.
It's not that expensive, and definitely seems well worth it
considering the soon-to-be availability of Vue 6 as an upgrade.
I'm looking forward to it. I haven't thought much about Vue in a
while, let alone used it, until the last couple days, that is, but now
I have a real need for software that can do landscapes easily, as part
of my job, and Vue 4 seems completely ancient now.

I remembered you are involved with the Xfrog people, but that wasn't
just flattery. Those plants really are excellent.

Cheers,
Mike

You don't have to! If you buy Vue 5 Infinite now, you'll receive Vu6 6
Infinite as a free upgrade!
But - I don't know if this is valid also for upgrades - that is, I don't
know if it's the same if you upgrade from 4 to 5i and or if you buy 5i
straight. You should visit www.e-onsoftware.com and perhaps call or write to
a sales representative.

Well, Vue 6i can have even more: if you choose the "Xstream" version, you
will be able to integrate the two programs, that is, you can open a Vue
scene in Lightwave and have it interact with Lightwave objects (also
animated), and you can go back and forth to Vue to edit the Vue scene -
changes are reflected in real time into Lightwave.
Beware of the price though - the Xstream solution isn't cheap.

Thank you. In part it's my fault ;-)

Ahh, Orio, there you are! Thanks for the reply. :)
Doing well... a little too busy with my job and all, but doing well. You?

Since I wrote the above message this morning, I browsed around various
Vue forums and other info I could come across, and I think I pretty
much made up my mind to go ahead and buy.
But then there's the new matter (which I think just happened
saturday?) of the announcement of the pending release of Vue 6. Will
Vue 6 have everything that Vue 5 Infinite has, plus more?
They kind of lost me - seems that there are several different versions
of everything now. I just recently learned that Vue 5 and Vue 5
Infinite were two different creatures. ;)
So, if Vue 6 includes V5I, I guess I should probably just wait.
Another thing I find interesting is that V5I has a Lightwave scene
export. I couldn't find anything on how well that works, or what
version of LW is supported - I didn't really look too thoroughly though.

Thanks also for the X Frog info. I wasn't aware the models could be
bought separately. Those plants and trees and flowers in those
collections have to be the best I've ever seen.

Well, I'll talk to you later.
Cheers,
Mike
