My intention to join your little group, learn about WAA and appropriately "advocate" the use and acceptance of clinical web analytics. Perhaps I am in the wrong group. Sorry for you time.In my view this is not a topic for the advocacy committee rather perhaps the technology committee.

Hey Jay,
Dr. Newbie here! Well after days and weeks of 90 degree learning curves, I have produced my first web analytic report for a client hospital or should I say Integrated Delivery Network of (9) hospitals. You have to understand that I am transferring my Knowledge Base of Clinical Pathology to Cyber Pathology in eHealth.
The client wants to know if there is an industry standard for rate of growth for a web portal. We at MEDSEEK term every Internet access point we deploy as a portal - more specifically I refer to them all as clinical portals within the hospital environment. The measurement( s) from WebTrends that I leveraged was NEW versus RETURNED visitors to the new enterprise portals. - right at six months old. (don't know what to do about the 29.76% of visitors who do not accept cookies) Good, bad or indifferent the report looked "bitchen" and the information presented was a reasonable surrogate for "growth rate" of a new web site. Comparison reporting will follow using some of the our large client hospital networks.
My intended mission as a member of WAA and specifically for joining this Advocacy Group is to be educated daily, slip into your learning loop and try to establish a novel section specifically for eHealth, i.e., the deployment and integration of Internet technologies in clinical processes a.k.a. hospital web sites (inter & intra).
Sorry for the long wind here but this is my first Group encounter and I'm loaded with questions just keep the coffee pouring.

Any reason Eric is doing this, rather than the WAA?

This is a hot topic and a working group led by Eric Peterson is
looking into it. There is a diversity of media and medium in the Web
2.0 sphere, which makes it more complex to measure than if it was only
pure HTML viewed in a browser.
There seems to be a consensus that "page view" is not the good unit of
measure anymore... I sugested, based on post I had seen a long time
ago, "meaningful user event" but the question remains: how to measure it!
