In response to Gordon's questions concerning timeline, Jenna stated that
September 8 was her D-day for getting Incorporation forms filed without
applying for an extension (which was viewed as undesireable due to
schedule loading). Under questions 5 & 6) Jenna stated that it was her
understanding that two ballots would be offered over a week's time after
a week's warning based upon an earlier call for members to register with
one or the other of our listserves if they wish to vote. One ballot will
ask for assent on propositions (which Steve's latest posting on the
Revised PROPOSITIONS for action was dated 27Jul98, 14:12:39JST), and the
second ballot will be for electing officers/directors so that they can
sign the incorporation papers, etc.
Under Gordon's question 4) "who is counting" Jenna responded that Connie
Broughton is our parliamentarian and David Wyatt is her assistant. David
has advised that he is running for Membership Committee Chair and thus
cannot assist with the count and Connie (in a personnel message to me
has stated that her plate is too full to participate for the next two
months). Since I threw my hat in the ring to take David's place, I will
continue in what ever capacity I can be of benefit to get this ball
rolling. There still is a need for at least one additional counter to
give legitimacy to the process. I would hope that both David and Connie
will stay with the Parliamentary Committee (if there is such a thing)
after the dust settles.
In the mean time, Jenna's clock is wound very tight to accomplish all
that needs to be done by September 8 and I suspect that all of us are
looking at time crunches. I therefore propose that we:
(a) use the Revised Propositions for Action (as referenced above) as our
first ballot and insert Michael D. Warner into Proposition 8 as an
online parliamentarian to supervise the voting for these Propositions
and on WAOE's Charter Officers/Directors.
(b) use this message as our call for members to register with
waoe-views@... if they wish to participate in the incorporation and
election of directors elections (more than one listserve calls for
confusion). All current members of this listserve are considered
registered. Deadline for registration set at 0001GMT 14 August 1998.
(c) use this message as our call for nominations for the WAOE offices of
President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Membership Chair, and Executive
Secretary, a negative vote to Proposition 10 not withstanding. All
nominations, seconds, and agreements to run shall be closed at 0001GMT
17 August 1998. Extensions to this deadline will only be entertained for
positions which have recieved no nomination, second and agreement to run
by eligible voters. Self nominations are acceptable pending a second
eligible voter.
(d) voting on the Revised Propositions would commence 0001GMT 17 August
1998 by email/web ballet (method confirmation to this listserve by 15
August) and end by 2359GMT 23 August 1998. Announcement of results to
this listserve by 0001GMT 25 August 1998.
(e) voting on the candidates for officers/directors would commence
0001GMT 19 August 1998 by email/web ballet (method confirmation to this
listserve by 17 August) and end by 2359GMT 25 August 1998. Announcement
of results to this listserve by 0001GMT 27 August 1998.
One more call for assistance in voter counting - pleeeease.
Disseminations to other listserves, web sites of this message have not
been posted by originator. Please feel free to post accordingly.
