just to let you know, JPhotoBrush Pro 1.3
(http://www.jphotobrushpro.com) has been released and being a java
based program it runs in OS/2.

Note from the author:

But I must warn you it is a bit resource hungry (like most Java
apps), so make sure you havea good CPU speed and RAM.

I am new to the NON-BORG os environment. I guess you could say I am
just beginning to become De-Assimilated !

I'm just concerned that I will have perpetual trouble with apps and
incompatible files.

So, I guess I will be asking a lot of what would seem to be "Dumb
Questions".

Thank you for this excellent post.  It has helped me with several
other things, other than boot-from-CD.

The DIAZ article has:

link - INI2Rexx.CMD - 500 Internal Server Error, returned at
1:45-2:00 am MST

link - just before the "Things I've added...etc" topic heading,
the CONFIG.SYS link and the FILES LIST link are swapped (i.e. the
FILES LIST downloads the CONFIG.SYS and visa versa).

IP and EMAIL from the moderators" checked, this would stop you

Hello All,

I have a machine at home that has a bad floppy controller, and I was
wondering, before I go into efforts to get it working (since there is
not much need for it anymore!), if anyone has run across or used any
software that creates a bootable CD out of the original Warp 4 CD.

As I said, my machine at home has a 3.5" drive with "issues", so I
can't use anything that requires the use of that drive... I have
found some things that would work, if my floppy drive also worked.
But, alas...

Any ideas?

Glad you spotted that...I must have missed the announcment among
my other spam.....<g g g>

Looks like all the Warp 4 versions, and before are "last year's
model".......officially...<g g g>...

I have the MCPs, haven't made a big effort to make them my permanent
installs...just made sure the CDs would load/read/install....but..
someday (<g g g g>....).

This won't stop me from helping newbies get their toes wet trying
OS/2...as far as I'm concerned, the biggest "IBM authorized
remarketer" is eBay......<g g g g>....most of my newbies get their
Warp 3s on there...

If I may suggest -- after you've removed the "trash" users from
membership, the optimum setting is to make sure that All Posts from
New Users are Moderated, usually as an automatic override.  Once
you've observed the first few posts from a new group member, if they
seem reasonably on topic, you can remove the restriction from them
and they'll be unmoderated.  But for all of the spammer trash,
they'll join and their first posts will be trash, which you'll get --
you then reject their post, and remove and/or ban them from the
group.  That way, you don't have to "restrict" group membership, just
monitor the first few posts of any new user.  But, whatever works for
you.  Good luck.

Works good here, Warp 4 FP15. Really nice, simple and does the job the way it
should.

A german friend of mine is just getting his toes

He wants to try to use Faxworks/2 from the Bonuspak.

Does Faxworks/2 work..??  He only wants non-fancy,
generic faxing.

If it's not worth messing with, are there alternatives.?

Pasnak and I discussed this.  The spammer jerks were
even getting past a daily check by me.  So he has
changed the group to "restricted" which only means
that he or I need to click on a link to approve or
disapprove.

This should not slow any REAL user down, who wants to
join and post valid messages.

If this offends any of you, please let pasnak or me
know.

I don't want the group to die from being smothered
in sewage, and that is what this spammer seems to
be trying to do.

I have received some good help here, and I am
introducing some newbies to Warp and want a place
for them and me to ask "newbies/dummies" type
questions.  We have some outstanding OS2ers on
this list, so the help is here, and it would be a
shame to let the group die.

Okay...Pasnak clean out the spam and deleted most of
the phoney mambers.  I cleaned out a couple of others.
I will try to keep a daily watch on it.  I get the
daily digest, so if someone sneaks in and posts a
spam, I might not catch it until that night.
But, we still want this to be an opened group, and
no delay on posting, so something might occasionally
sneak thru.

Mr. Moderator -- don't you monitor your group anymore?  Every one of
these postings for the past month has come from some random idiot who
creates a garbage Yahoo account, posts some spam to the list, then
either leaves the group or abandons the id.  (I do notice that some
of the ids apparently still live in the Members list.)  Minimally,
all of these IDs should be Banned from membership, and all of the
posts deleted from the archive.  Further, you should really make sure
that the settings of the group are to Moderate New Members -- that
way, you'll see any posting from someone who just joins, and you can
either toss it (and them) if all they're doing is posting trash, or
you can decide if they appear to be a real person who truly wants to
be a part of this group.  (Then you can turn off the moderation on
them.)

Otherwise, if you're abandoning the group, tell us -- maybe you'll
find someone to take the reins, or maybe it's just time to kill the
group -- there are a lot of other Warp OS/2 groups around, including
the eCS groups, so it's not as if we're going to be homeless for
long.  Just let us know, OK?  Thanks.

selection of PS/2 and general IBM parts, for years..

For information...the IBM sites, both HTTP and FTP have gadzoodles of
information...it sometimes is a little hard to find just what you
want...but..it's probably all there...<g>

Do a GOOGLE search - enter PS/2 in the search box, and hit "I'm
Feeling Lucky" will take you right to Dennis Smith's PS/2 page on
members.tripod.com....

Do a GOOGLE search - enter PS/2 in the search box, and hit "Google
Search" will turn up a whole host of other information/sites.

Also, is that Warp 3 you have the Warp 3 that you need an external
Windows3.1 install for, or is it the Warp 3 that includes WIN-OS2
Windows3.1 support, or is it Warp 3 Connect.....???

Greetings all!

I am so very new to the world of computing outside of BORG influence!
I will need lots of help in my challenge of de-assimilation!
It also does not help when you lack all the important documentation
for the version of OS-2 one is using! I currently have OS-2 Warp3
installed on one of my extra computers that is sitting around.
I also have collected IBM towers and desktops that seem to have been
intended to use OS-2. One in particular, looks like it was intended
to use the version of OS-2 that I have in its original box (Less the
books, of course!). This one is very nice, it has imbedded scsi wide
all over it including an external scsi port! I really want to use
this machine to its full extent since it is so nice and it was also
made for my OS-2 Warp 3. Alas, this IBM stuff needs some special
support to upgrade to more memory and other stuff. This tower just
sits there, waiting for me to do something with it! Anyone here have
any original 72 pin parity IBM ram sticks they don't need anymore? I
need four 8meg sticks that are guaranteed to work in this thing. What
I have is the PS/2 Ultimedia mini tower that is decked out with all
sorts of niceties, including a wicked nice multisync video card, and
imbedded audio that screams.

Hope to be cruising the information universe at warp 3 or 4 soon!

It's faster than hpfs (lite), it's au pair with hpfs386, but in stability
hpfs386 still is light-years ago.

Could someone help me with this problem or direct me to the correct
forum. I have HPFS installed on my C: drive. I have JFS on my D: E:
and F: drive. I've heard JFS is much faster than HPFS. But it didn't
seem like it on my system so I ran Sysbench and Sysinfo to test it. As
you can see from the results, JFS is only half as fast as the HPFS
partition. any suggestions?

I realized Sysbench is a physical drive test because there is another
partition on the first drive. I have it labled drive F: and it did not
show in the Sysbench test. So below is another test from *Sysinfo*
which uses a composite file IO test. I tested C: and F: drive which
are both on the first physical drive.

Both of these drive partitions are on the same physical drive

Anyone have any ideas?

I've reinstalled os/2 warp 4 back on,and I'm having quite a problem
with 3175 errors. Most of the exe files causes this error. I'm running
os/2 on a 8 gig drive partitioned into 4 equal partitions. Win 98 ia
on the first partition ,and os/2 in on the third partition with  fat
16. The drive that I'm using is the master on the secondary. In all of
the years that I;ve used os/2 ,I've never had this problem. I'm
wondering whether os/2 is trying to make a call to int13,and if so,how
do I deal with this.I'm plan to add two other large that are formatted
  as fat32. The first drive will have xp and 2000,and the second as
a slave on the primary will be for files.I use Power Boot@ to boot up
the different systems,including Mandrake Linux and BeOS. Any help out
there?

OS/2 is really shining on this one putting windows to shame,
I would also point out that as well as stand alone apps like
above location, there is also an OS/2 codec at
http://math.berkeley.edu/~roconnor/MMIOMP3/
which allows you to play ogg file with the built in Digital
audio player, both files, and streaming, if you have installed
the netscape plug pack
