It took quite a while, but Warped Users is finally back up as a 'Yahoo Group'
now at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/warpedusers . For a while there, I was getting
paranoid,
and believed they where never going to port it over to 'groups' :)

I've asked several other places and no one seems
to know....but.....<br>..will someone please give my
a URL where I can find information about running
Win3.1 Internet<br>applications (e.g. InternetExplorer,
Netscape<br>Communicator, etc) under Warp 3 Connect...???<br><br>I'm not
asking for the information...just where it<br>is...
Hi! i've been creating a hardware compatibility
list in the warpdoctor site, and while it lacks MANY
devices, i'd like to receive some feedback about it. I'm
expecting to make it public in a couple of weeks, meanwhile
please keep it undisclosed.<br><br>The url is

target=new>http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=163</a><br><br>"IBM's OS/2
operating system was once lauded for its
ability to run DOS and Windows applications. But, since
the release of Windows 95, 32-bit Windows
applications haven't been supported. That situation may change
soon. Connectix Corp. Tuesday unveiled Virtual PC for
OS/2, along with product development and marketing help
from software developer InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH
and the distribution support of Serenity Systems. The
software promises to let corporate users run both Windows
and OS/2 applications on one PC. Using Connectix's
virtual machine technology, any x86 operating system can
be loaded under the "host" operating system."
I have eComStation 1.0 and love it very much.
There still is the problem with sound like in Warp 4,
but by using Crystal cards you will be able to play
.wav files and have some sounds. The midi function
still don't work though.
Did you ever find out why you were having this
problem?. If so, I am glad, but if not I think I know what
is going on.<br><br>1.) OS/2 setup looks at bios
setup values at install time<br>2.) Hd should be setup
for LBA to see 1G and above.<br>3.) Newdasd.exe will
update the IDE and CDROM drivers for OS/2 so the system
can format to the size that you have.<br><br>This all
may be mute now, but did you figure this
out??<br><br>I have been able to install Warp 3 and 4 on drives
of greater than 8GB using the modified install
disks.
I was in the Minneapolis/St.Paul nternational
airport last week and the ATM in the main lobby was being
serviced and booted with an OS/2 Boot Screen Flashing by.
I din't geta good look due to security loading
money so I didn't get much more than that. I thought
that it was cool and then I thought that the securty
guys wern't protecting the money they just didn't want
you to see it was booting OS/2.
blueflame...also...Fixpaks are a free download,<br>and most hardware has
downloadable drivers, too.<br>...go where MoonChild pointed you...it will
all<br>get straightened out there...<g g g>
blueflame...it sounds like you only partially
<br>did an FDISK partition and setup of your
drive.<br>...you may need to do it again...<br>..I think should go
where MoonChild pointed you.<br>...to #VOICE on IRC for
some realtime help...<br>they can talk you through
it...it isn't that<br>hard...but...sometimes confusing
the first time.
Please come to the IRC webbnet.org server and
join the #VOICE channel for some realtime advice and
support. There are many veteran OS/2 users there who are
ready and willing to help. Fixpacks are free but
drivers may be another story... <br>Check out
<a href=http://www.os2voice.org target=new>http://www.os2voice.org</a> for more
info.
What I did was, I booted DOS with the Win98 CD
and I used FDisk to delete the partition and then
remake it. Then I started OS/2 Setup and When it asked
if I wanted to format I did. Then it asked what file
system. First time I chose FAT and then it gave me only
425 MB. So I tried again and I chose HFPS and I still
only had 425. I'm gonna download those boot disk files
and try that but I don't have any fixpaks. Don't you
have to pay for those? Also I wanna get drivers for my
hardware but IBM asks for a password. Do I have to pay IBM
for drivers too?
Did you wipe out all the FAT32..???...you
could<br>see it a previous post that OS/2 doesn't work<br>with
FAT32, so you must use PartitionMagic, or<br>even OS/2
FDISK to wipe that FAT32 completely<br>out and then
repartition your hard drive. Above<br>about 2.5Gbytes, you
probably will need HPFS<br>format, but below that, you
should use FAT16..<br>...and...for ordinary home users,
chop that<br>drive up into smaller partitions....IMO
OS/2<br>System install should be on a partition by <br>itself of
100Mbytes or less...
Stumbled upon this little gem of a site:
<a href=http://silk.apana.org.au/vorbis/
target=new>http://silk.apana.org.au/vorbis/</a> . Don't know how I missed it,
with all the
software he's put out. Hopefully a new version will come
out now that 1.0 is just around the corner....
OS/2 won't install onto a FAT32 partition - it
doesn't work with FAT32 at all. To install OS/2 you need
to use something like Partition Magic to reduce the
size of your FAT32 partition and create a new
partition for OS/2.
I have been trying for a long time to get OS/2
Warp 4 on my system. But for some reason it just won't
work. I have an 8GB hard drive which is on one FAT32
partition. When I try setup everything works fine, but right
after I choose Advanced Installation it comes up with
an error saying that OS/2 requires 100 MB and that I
don't have a partition with at least this size and it
takes me to FDISK. When I get to FDISK The only
partition avaliable is of course the only partition I have.
Then I go to choose to make the drive "Installable"
but the only avaliable option is to delete the
partition. I am going crazy trying to get this to work, and
I wouldn't dare go back to Winblows PLEASE REPLY!!!
I am dying for help.
