We found an error in the configuration for the secure P2P chat & surf
app I posted about previously. If you downloaded any of those Windoze
versions I posted about before and you want to fix the error:
Look in the folder \TorChat\bin\Tor & open the file named torrc.txt,
in it look for the line CircuitBuildTimeout and change its value from
10 to 60, save the file and then start TorChat (make sure to kill
TorChat before doing the edit).
I made the corrections to the files I posted about before and
replaced those files with these corrected versions:

The reason why is: the lower latency was causing way too many active
TCP connections to build up over time (like in the 20 - 30 range),
giving away attention to the fact that a secure networking app is
running on a machine.
The increased latency setting causes the number of active TCP
connections to drop to an average of 3-4 over time, drawing less
attention to a user running the chat app on a PC. It does this at the
expense of a quick chat response time, so the chat program takes
longer to initialize onto the tor network when it first starts and
there is also a little more lag time in chatting with it. But the
tradeoff is increased stealth by fewer connections in to tor and
lower bandwidth use overall (when not file trading with it) while it
is running, ergo less chance you will be detected by anyone trying to
prevent you from chatting or trading files securely on publicly
accessible networks.
Apologies for multiple posts about this, but this mod is a work in
progress and we're still working the bugs out of it. It looks to have
fairly good walking legs now. Enjoy :-)
