C Tech's EVS and MVS software unite advanced gridding,
geostatistical analysis, and fully three-dimensional visualization
tools into a software system developed to address the needs of all
Earth science disciplines. The graphical user interface is integrated
with modular analysis and graphics routines. The more advanced
versions of our software allow these modules to be customized and
combined to satisfy the analysis and visualization needs of any
application. The software can be used to analyze all types of
analytes and geophysical data in soil, groundwater, surface water,
oceans and air.
Integrated geostatistics provide quantitative appraisal of the
quality
of site assessments and identification of optimal new sample
locations at sites that require additional investigation. This proven
technology can dramatically cut site assessment costs. Our tools
enhance your ability to analyze and present data for remediation
planning, litigation support, regulatory reporting, and public
relations.
Environmental database and data management software products
such as ESRI's ArcView, ArcINFO and ArcGIS, EarthSoft's EQuIS,
Integrate's TerraBase, Geotech Computer System's EnviroData
Data Management and GIS Solution's GIS/Key are also supported.

HYDROLOGICS - BREAKTHROUGH IN WATER RESOURCES
MODELING SOFTWARE SAVES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS
=================================================
HydroLogics awarded patent for breakthrough in water resources
modeling software that has enabled better utilization of precious
water resources - current and potential savings of billions of
dollars
in public funds reported.
SACRAMENTO, CA, 16 October 2001 - Breakthrough in modeling
software that assists managers of precious water resources to
"find" more water in existing water systems, and to best balance
competing demands for water usage, was awarded a patent,
according to the developer, HydroLogics, Inc., formerly Water
Resources Management, Inc. (WRMI), with offices in Maryland,
North Carolina and California. HydroLogics uses the software in
providing consulting services to water resource agencies, water
purveyors and other clients around the world, and has been a key
factor in resolving major conflicts over water-resource use on local,
state, and national levels.
The patented software routine forms the heart of HydroLogics' OCL
or Operations Control Language, and enables users to frame
weighted operating objectives in a way that parallels intelligent
human behavior - but is capable of dealing the with the millions of
combinations of conditions that can drive the decision-making
process in the management of water-resources and related
systems. When combined with HydroLogics' OASIS software for
modeling water systems, it forms a powerful tool that allows
unprecedented flexibility in the simulation of water resources
systems, benefiting both operational decision-making and planning
for the future. (OASIS is an acronym for Operation and Simulation
of Integrated Systems.)

support organisations working with communities in the key issues
related to community management of water supply. It offers
practical tools to facilitate communication and community decision-
making processes and checklists that will help field staff to
organise their work. The combination of fact sheets, tools and
checklists makes this book a 'must' for every field worker assisting
communities to better manage their own water supply.
'Keep It Working' is one of several publications on community
management, which include 7 videos, a manual for managers
(forthcoming), a publications on the usefulness and efficiency of the
concept of community management (forthcoming), and a booklet
for policy makers (forthcoming). All these outputs are prepared
within the framework of the Community Water Management
project, using funds provided by the Directorate-General for
International Cooperation of the Netherlands Government.

ABTECH INDUSTRIES
SMART PRODUCTS FOR CLEAN WATER TODAY
AND....TOMORROW
=================================================
Smart environmental solutions for clean water today...... and
tomorrow. AbTech Industries is the developer and manufacturer of
the Smart Sponge(r) Technology a patented polymer product
designed to remove petroleum hydrocarbons from aqueous
environments.
The EPA has identified this technology in region 01 as an
innovative solution for stormwater runoff. Please visit their web-
site
at www.epa.gov/region01/steward/ceit/tech_cos/abtech.html
The Ultra-Urban(r) Filter uses the capability of Smart Sponge(r) to
filter polluted urban stormwater from the streets of cities across
the
United States. The product has proven to remove in excess of 80%
of free petroleum hydrocarbons in urban stormwater runoff as well
as to capture significant percentages of suspended solids
(sediments containing heavy metals), trash and debris. As you are
aware, industries, commercial establishments, municipalities and
construction sites all must conform to the EPA's NPDES (National
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) discharge permit
requirements. NPDES expects the regulated community to
institute BMP's in the reduction of urban pollutants. AbTech has
developed that BMP which is currently installed in California,
Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Texas and Washington DC

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY SEMINAR ON POLLUTION AND
WATER RESOURCES
=================================================
May I extend an invitation to water professionals to submit a brief
note about some interesting research on water related issues or
perhaps some innovative solutions you may have developed for
water related problems. We at the Columbia University "Seminar
on Pollution and Water Resources" would like to hear about these.
Our seminar whose members are professionals in the field meets
Wednesday evenings during the Academic year. Thank you for
your consideration. Contact lopintor@...

NATIONAL GROUND WATER ASSOCIATION
FRACTURED-ROCK AQUIFERS CONFERENCE
=================================================
U.S. EPA and U.S. Geological Survey Sponsor
NGWA Fractured-Rock Aquifers Conference
WESTERVILLE, OH (January 7, 2002) - Rapid population growth in
Jefferson County, Colorado, and other upland and mountainous
regions of the United States has greatly increased the use of
ground water from wells in fractured-rock aquifers. Managing land
use and ground water in these regions will be the focus of the
National Ground Water Association (NGWA) conference, Fractured-
Rock Aquifers 2002, to be held March 13-15, 2002, at the Adams
Mark Hotel in Denver, Colorado. The international conference is
funded by both the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Geological Survey, and
supported by Jefferson County Colorado, the Colorado Geological
Survey, the National Association of Counties, and the Small Flows
Clearinghouse.
Designed for elected officials, land-use planners, and ground water
scientists, the conference will foster communication and promote
the sustainable use of vulnerable natural resources. Sustaining
ground water quantity and quality is particularly challenging in
fractured-rock aquifers, because they typically have small storage
capacity and are susceptible to contamination from sources such
as individual sewage disposal systems. Increased scientific
information and understanding of processes affecting the quantity
and quality of water in these aquifers will be useful to officials
responsible for making effective land-use and water- management
decisions.
The conference also includes a March 14 town meeting, open to
the public, on "Fractured Rock Aquifers: Wells and Septic
Systems-What the Public Needs to Know." The town meeting will
take place from 7-9 p.m.
For more information or to register, contact the NGWA Customer
Service Center at (800) 551-7379 or visit the conference web site
http://www.ngwa.org/education/fracbro.html. A not-for-profit 16,500-
member organization, National Ground Water Association is the
leading information and education provider for the ground water
industry. The organization's membership includes drilling
contractors, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, ground water
scientists, engineers, geologists and environmental professionals.
