demonstrations of the latest Water 6 SQL software interacting with MySQL
databases. We'll also show a new example Water 6 application that deals with
create, read, update, and delete (CRUD), the four basic functions of persistent

At this month's Boston Water User meeting we will be demonstrating the new
release of Water 6 (v0.4) featuring user dialogs and the new Water editor, which
is itself written in Water 6. Water 6 programs run in a browser, similar to
JavaScript programs and can take advantage of HTML, CSS, and plug-ins for
implementing the user interface. But unlike JavaScript, Water programs can run
stand-alone and off-line. Water programs load instantly and incrementally update
the page through a uniform DOM, providing the responsiveness of native apps.

On Monday, April 27, Mike will demonstrate how Water can be used to
collaboratively create a system as complex as inventory management in less than
an hour. The Snack-O Water program involves planning, tracking and approving
inventory purchases in a distributed environment, taking into account both long
term demand and special events. It is an example of how to create Water programs
that solve complex problems by interactively describing the application
requirements. If meeting time permits, we will also demonstrate new persistence
capabilities of Water 6.

This month we will continue our tutorial and discussion on how to deploy Water
applications. If you missed last month's meeting, we'll catch you up quickly and
continue stepping through the process of creating Water applications from
concept to deployed reality, including designing, testing, setting up the
software on a server, and analyzing performance. We'll demonstrate how to deploy
Water applications on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon

provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. You'll see how the Water

linking concepts, rather than strings, contained in news feeds, documents, and

The topic this month is a preview of the Connected Content Server. This
Water-based application provides a highly efficient means for time-critical
information content discovery and distribution. The product finds and connects
concepts (rather than simply strings) across data and information sources and
notifies users of the information based on their dynamically-updated profiles.
The information sources may include a variety of media including text, web
pages, RSS, emails, and blogs. The connected content is presented to the user
via a web browser, along with a concept map, geographical map, important images,
and a timeline.
