I'm using 1.5.2 in Jaguar. For some reason, I can't change the location from
Anchorage, Alaska. I'm sure the people of Anchorage are very interested in their
weather, but I live in Chicago. No matter what I do to change the current
location, it
doesn't change. Help!

But it's still confusing. The clearest links that I've seen on other
web sites are "download" and "buy". The only people then tempted to
click on "buy: will be those who haven't. Everyone who clicks "download"
will get what they expect.

Thanks for fixing many things with 1.5.2
I was furstrated with 1.5.1
but I only get the forecast for the next day, for my area code 93906
thanks

This is the thing, I really like WeatherPop, I do. But I'm frustrated that
software
has such problems 'harvesting' data from the NOAA. WeatherManX quite
successfully harvests information from the same NOAA sources, so it's
disappointing that WeatherPop's algorithim doesn't quite 'get it'. I'm talking
about how sometimes it improperly reports the Tomorrow Hi as Tonight's Lo
and how a clear sky at night is somehow equivalent to sunny. Anyway, I just
hope that they are able to fix their harvesting algorithim, or I'm afraid that
more
people will go with WeatherMacX (although it's only a menu extra right now
and therefore, not 'officially' compatible with 10.2).

The "try it" links to the download, "buy it" links to the ecommerce site. I am
runnign 10.2 and while i'll admit that 1.5 was HORRIBLE and didn't work at
all, 1.5.2 has shown improvements, but still isn't quite what it used to be.

Ahh... You use 'Try It' to download the latest version of the app.
When you install it, the app will use your current registration info
and that it. An extra link saying 'Update for current user' may be
nice but in the end you are still downloading the same piece of software.

You can switch sources in the Preferences. Right now there is aol.com (US &
Intl) and weather.gov (just US).

I agree. The choices at glu.com were "try it" or "buy it." Neither
choice applied. An
"update for registered users" (or simply "update") would have been
easier.
I'll watch for the problems mentioned - add my thanks to the previous
ones for the heads-up.

Good question! From the way it looks I doubt you will want to!
It's too bad, I really liked the program!

Hello List!
I am very worried about installing 1.5.2 since I am hearing about
all kinds of difficulties. I intend to update to Jaguar this weekend
and am worried that 1.5.2 wll cause me more problems than I
need.
Also, It would have been nice if Glucose could have entered the
new download location in the last email I received from them.
The say the new download is free but they don't tell me where to
get it.
Thanks to all for the "heads up" regarding the problems!
Bob
AOL does not do well with the ‘Current Day does great with everything else!
Weather Gov. does okay with current day somewhat, but awful at forecast always incomplete info... And BAD updates has been way off so I switched to AOL but then loose the ‘current’ day.. LOL
After installing 1.5.2, I encountered serious degradation of my
internet speed and ability to obtain new mail and to download
any applications. Only through deinstalling the application and
Zapping the Pram was I able to return to normal operations. I
tried once more to install and apply v. 1.5.2, only to encounter the
same problem, thereby confirming that WeatherPop Advance
was causing the difficulties. Any suggestions.
I was glad to see the email from the Dev Corp. I was showing all
question marks for a few days now and was starting to wonder why it
wouldn't correct itself.
1.5.2 downloaded fine. I used the "try it" download so that I didn't
have to enter credit card info again. That's what y'all did, right??
I do notice a difference from 1.3 in that the weather source is now
listed. 'Next version, I wish we could switch sources while in
Weatherpop. That's a hint, Dev. Corp.

Can some one help me with this?
After upgrading to 1.5.2, WeatherPop works for a day or so, then I can't
change locations and locations seem to duplicate themselves in the list,
I tried trashing the preferences and it will work for a day until I change
locations again.
I have Jaguar installed on a B&W G3/450/1GB ram

Hi Todd. I'm not from glucose, I'm just another user like you. But I think I
can
answer your questions:
> I have 1.3, rather, I bought 1.3 to support y'all, and I'm wondering
> why the update doesn't work?
It does work, but it's not what you think. It doesn't update your version of
WeatherPop. It updates the information displayed. Perhaps it should be
labeled Update Weather Data.
> And if I have to delete the menu app from my OSX.1.5 to
> upgrade to WP1.5, how can I do that without losing my paid
> subscription?
I quote from the support page: "Deleting WeatherPop will not delete your
registration information."
You can find answers to lots of common questions by reading the support
page here: <http://www.glu.com/products/weatherpop/support.php>
If you're running Mac OS X 10.1.5 or earlier, deleting the old version is a two-
step process:
1) Quit WeatherPop by Command-Dragging it out of the menubar, and
2) Drag the WeatherPop application to the trash. (If you follows the
installation instructions, the application will be in your applications folder.)
That's it!
Hello,
Sorry to hear that its been such a hassle dealing with "idiots" like
me. Been patiently waiting for the new release, I can't seem to
find the answer to this question on the site or the yahoo groups.
I have 1.3, rather, I bought 1.3 to support y'all, and I'm wondering
why the update doesn't work? Its kinda like, what's the point of
having a menu titled update?
And if I have to delete the menu app from my OSX.1.5 to
upgrade to WP1.5, how can I do that without losing my paid
subscription?
Moreover, maybe I'm an idiot but other than draging the appl.
Titled weatherpop.menu to the trash, do I need to delete
annything else?
Sincerely,
Todd

I have the same problem. We use Port 8002. Nothing I have tried
has worked. Works fine at home without going through a proxy.

I have a worse problem. Right now it is rainy and foggy in London, and
I'm in London :^)
Hi,
I upgraded to 1.5.2 and weatherpop no longer sees through my proxy
server. I'm at a site where port 80 is blocked, but we have an http
proxy server - so bypassing the proxy is not possible.
Hello new colisters,
I just dl the new version of wp adv which has to be the 1.5.2....but when I
open it..in french it says " à propos de weather pop 1.5.1"
I ask me which version I am running...and this one has some bugs in the
choice of the source infos...which ever is my choice...it is always the same
that is shown.
Hope you understand me even with my limited English.
Patrick
Some clues ?
I am using OS 10.1.5. The old WeatherPop worked fine except my home town
was stuck and never changed it was always 75º and sunny.
When we had to replace it with the first upgrade everything was messed up
and none of the locations worked right. If you clicked to open a location
the name may change. I have now two Aberdeen, UK and two London, UK. For
a while I had two Chariton, IA. My problem with thelast upgrade,
WeatherPop 1.5.2: I can only get Aberdeen, UK or London, UK. Whenever you
open locations and click Knoxville, Iowa, Chariton, Iowa or Mt. Pleasant,
Iowa nothing happens. I live in Iowa and would like some Iowa forecasts
can you blame me? Right now it is rainy and foggy in London and is 63º.
Is anyone else having a similar problem?
Sincerely,
Jean Leeper
