“Creating Web Site Indexes”
A 4-hour workshop as the featured presentation of the New England
Chapter of the American Society for Indexing spring conference
Saturday, March 21, 2009, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Worcester State College, 486 Chandler Street, Worcester, MA
North/South Auditorium on the first floor of the Student Center
Presented by Heather Hedden, Principal of Hedden Information Management
In this four-hour workshop, Heather will instruct participants on how to
create hyperlinked back-of-the-book style indexes on web sites or
intranets. Indexing techniques, design best practices, and software
tools for web site indexing will be covered. A review of HTML codes will
be provided, so participants with no prior experience with HTML can
attend this workshop. Indexing experience also is not necessary, but a
basic familiarity with the concepts of indexes is an advantage. This
half-day workshop, based on Heather's online workshops, has also been
presented at the ASI national conferences in Toronto (2006) and
Philadelphia (2007). Workshop details are available at:
www.hedden-information.com/web-site-indexing-workshop.htm
The other speaker at the conference, will give a one-hour presentation
on “Indexing as a Balancing Act” 10:00 - 11:15. The “Creating Web Site
Indexes” workshop will begin at 11:30, with one hour before lunch and
three hours after lunch.
