Since there are a lot of newbies here, I thought I'd post something
about books and documentation. Books and documentation can answer
many questions as well as (or better than) a forum.
Here's a link to Amazon's Web Analytics collection:

For beginners, I think the best books on the list are by Peterson,
Kaushik, and Sterne. There is also a Dummies book. All these books
explain concepts and terms and are an essential starting point for
using any analytics program. I think anybody using web analytics
needs to have read at least one of these books.
For Google Analytics, which is the cause of many queries on this
forum, there are some good commercial books by Clifton, Tyler and
Ledford. There is also extensive and searchable documentation/help
on the GA site at http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/?ctx=browse.
I've personally found that almost all of my Google
Analytics questions are already answered on the GA site.
For WebTrends, the Customer Center (upper left of the admin panel)
leads to four or five comprehensive documentation volumes aimed at
different user levels, and dozens of smaller how-tos.
Omniture's Help portal is at the upper right of the SC screen and,
like WebTrends, contains a wealth of large and small documents and
videos.
And so on.
Using a book or documentation is more work than asking basic
questions on a forum, but I think they produce a better user.
