According to SearchEngineWatch at
http://www.searchenginewatch.com, "Doorway pages are
created to do well for particular phrases. They are also
known as portal pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry
pages and by other names."

According to WebPosition...

"Products that simply submit you to hundreds of no-name
engines and suggest you just add meta tags to your pages
are NOT going to work.

"Most experts in the industry will tell you that you're
unlikely to realize any significant traffic from the
'shotgun submission' method.

"The KEY to generating new traffic is to create and
maintain pages on your site that will be found in the
top 10 to 30 matches on the MAJOR search engines, since
that's where 95% of the traffic comes from."

Reporter Mission
=================

You will want to run a Reporter Mission using your
WebPosition Gold. This report will allow you to
see how your web site "ranks" currently in the major
search engines. If your site is new, like JustMyKids,
you will most likely not rank at all. This is normal
since you haven't submitted your site yet.

Rather than reprinting the directions for running a
Reporter Mission, I will direct you to the step-by-
step directions provided in your WebPosition Gold
software. (again, available free at....

After running your Reporter Mission you will want to
schedule future Reporter Missions to view your
progress in search engine optimization. Again, refer
to your directions provided with WebPosition Gold.

the search engine that you optimized the page for

Page Generator
===============

The next step is to create those doorway pages.

Select the Page Generator Option from your start-up
window of WebPosition Gold. (Note: If you have
started a Page Generator file previously and want
to access that file, simple open the file using
the normal method, but change the file type to
Generator Mission Files (*.gmis) to find your
original file.)

JustMyKids Example:
-------------------
We have selected our primary key word to be
"kids." Our secondary key words / phrases
are "child," "children," and "child models."

Recommendation: Use specific key word phrases
whenever possible. With JustMyKids we are limited
by the fact that the more relevant key words are not
being searched for by the internet public. For this
reason we are going to have to go up against some
stiff competition to rank well with these common
key words that we have chosen.

Note: You can still do well with key words that do
not have a lot of search requests by surfers.

For example. If you are selling a $1000 product that
practically "sells itself" once you get your visitor
to your site, then you would not need as many visitors
as the site that offers a $20 product with about 3 out
of 100 people buying the $20 product.

You need to evaluate the profitability against the
volume of traffic. In the case of JustMyKids.com, we
are offering a free item to the public, so there is
no guarantee that we will make "$1000" off of each
visitor. Therefore we need the "volume" of traffic
more than the specialized traffic.

As you are working through the Page Generator there
are buttons for you to click on for additional help.
You will be provided with form fields for you to
enter the information for your doorway page.

Simply sit back, relax, and enter the information as
requested by your Page Generator.


Page Critic
============

When you have finished, you may use the Page Critic
to analyze your doorway page for "tweaking" of the page
to meet the standards for the search engine that you have
selected. WebPosition utilizes the newest information
available for each search engine.

When utilizing the Page Critic you will receive specific
results (viewed in your browser window). You will be
able to "tweak" your page for the optimal doorway page
result according to the instructions provided by the
WebPosition program.

---------------------Action Tip 3---------------------

1. Run a Reporter Mission or similar ranking program
2. Use Page Generator to create your "rough draft"
version of your doorway page.
3. Use Page Critic to fine-tune your doorway page to
meet specific search engine criteria.

4. Tip - Using Online Auctions for Site Promotion

Using Online Auctions for Web Site Promotion

Have you considered utilizing ebay
(http://www.ebay.com) or one of the other
online auction sites for the promotion of
your web site?

All you need to do is....
1. Offer something for auction.
2. When you answer questions or contact
the winning bidders always include
an appealing signature file
3. When you send out the item, include
full color, eye-catching, printed
promotional material about your site
(i.e. brochures, complimentary post
cards, business cards, personalized
letter, etc.)
4. You may even want to consider adding
a bonus freebie for the winning bidder
(or all bidders). Use a sample or
trial version of your product or
service.

Ideally, you will want to be able to
auction something that is somehow related
to your business and preferably something
new. But, anything will work.

Do not abuse this privilege, however, and
"attack" the bidder with advertising that is
too blatant and intrusive.
