Rat's Life contest hitting a major milestone Webots 5.9.0 released!
Rat's Life The Rat's Life contest has recently hit a major milestone with Ratatouille: a clever competitor performing an efficient SLAM (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) algorithm to accurately remember the location of feeders in the maze (see movies). Ratatouille currently stands at the top of the Hall of Fame filled with 25 competing teams. The contest is still open to new comers, this leaves you maybe a chance to try to challenge Ratatouille...

Webots A new release of Webots is available for download on our web site. This new version includes updates for the Rat's Life and the Robotstadium competitions. It also features several bug fixes and includes a multi-threaded physics simulation for an outstanding performance on multi-core processor (up to 3x faster on quad-core processor, currently available for the Robotstadium Nao simulations only). The complete change log is available here.
Robotstadium contest launched! Video: Passive dynamic walker simulation in Webots
Robotstadium The Robotstadium contest started on April 21st. So far we have 56 registered users, but only one of them (Ted) has submitted a controller program for his team of soccer playing Nao robots. His challengers are under preparation here and there. You are welcome to join this promising contest, submit your URBI and/or Java code and possibly win a Nao robot offered by Aldebaran robotics.

Passive walker Sasha Voloshina from the university of Michigan, developed a nice simulation of a passive dynamic walker robot in Webots. This robot has no controller and only passive joints. Nevertheless, it can walk on an inclined surface in a very elegant way. The video of this simulation was published on cyberbotics web site.
