[Joe Crawford <joe@...>] There was interest in Phil Greenspun's FREE
conferences -- it's short notice, but I've heard so many good things and
have enjoyed and learned so much from his books 'Database Backed Websites'
and 'Philip & Alex's Guide to Web Publishing' that I'm eager to get it
straight from the horse's mouth.
I may be interested in carpooling to the Saturday conference -- any
inquiries in this regard please send to mailto:joe@...!
Still not sure I'll attend the Sunday "Tools" conference. But I'm *totally*
into the Saturday one!

Hey everyone, Philip Greenspun (the guy behind http://www.photo.net)
is doing two free all day seminars this upcoming weekend. They're
about half full now, and he wants to see more people. Anyone
remotely interested in moving from building images and text into
static pages should see Philip's talk. He introduces a new way of
looking at sites. He describes how to build web services that users
can interact with, and each other. He builds big honkin'
database-backed websites that can do some amazing things. The talk
on Saturday is light on the tech and more heavy on the "why sites
should be like this, what we can do with sites like this" sort of
thing. The one on Sunday is tech-heavy one done for programmers.
I've seen the intro talk and am attending the Sunday one.
I guarantee that his way of building, using, and looking at websites
will inspire you to think in bigger terms than what you're probably
doing now and build a truly interactive site.
If you've never heard of him, surf through photo.net or check out
his book, entirely online:

His message about this weekend's events is forwarded below:
