I was looking at the "pearl of wisdom" and I don't really get it. However,
it seems that the whirlpower machine would be much easier to build if you
just had a solid donut instead of water moving around and fins and stuff.
With a solid mass you could just mount it all on a hollow shaft, water out
the center, and hook the mass up to a pump/starter motor. Then the water
in the vortex would be reacting with the big chunk of mass, and you
wouldn't lose all that energy as heat when the water sloshes around in the
donut.
