This has come up before. Here is some info on how to fix regedit and task
manager.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried using regedt32.exe? I was wondering
if the malware had compromised both registry edit programs. I use regedt32,
rather then regedit.
BTW, I have WinXP, SP2, but do not have that particular entry in my
Registry. There is nothing under HKCU...\system, so I'm wondering if the
malware just added that entry. This is all mine shows:

hijackthis came up with this entry...
"HKCU\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system,
disableregedit=1"
[I have not deleted this entry]
Info on this item confirms hijackers have gained some level of control...
I also have a problem with "my computer" not responding forcing a "reset"
boot.
thanks for any help you may forward

I need help with regaining control of my registry...I've run across malware
that has denied me access to my registry (regedit, per my admin). It also
took control of my task manager but I have found a workaround for that.
I run XP pro on a amd 2600....I'm not sure what other info will be of
service...
are there any crack programs to regain admin control and route out the
offending *.exe?
I have deleted the offending file.
