USB to com port   Message List

Is there a way to set the USB ports to act as a com port in Windows XP home edition? I'm trying to get a plotter program to send its' data to a certain USB port and the program does not support USB ports but only Com & LPT ports. I was told that the USB ports do have a Com Port address.
