Regarding the drop out of lines in the bmp files, I take the bmp file into an
image editor and adjust the contrast and brightness. If the lines are faint
or broken I add in lines were needed. I also clean up the image by removing
trash and make sure the background is all white. If you are using scanned
images cleaning up the background will make a big improvement in your
results. Take out all the shades of gray or faint color and the lines will
standout a lot better.
