Hello WinTopo Users

The promised upgrade for the WinTopo Freeware raster to vector
converter has finally arrived. And it is not so much an upgrade as a
complete overhaul. We have taken the old 1.11 freeware version and
pulled out half the insides and replaced them with program code
taken directly from WinTopo Pro.
The new freeware version looks and operates just like the new
WinTopo Pro version (it just doesn't have so many functions and
options as the Pro version).

Here is a summary of what is new over the previous freeware
release...

1. It includes the same image display engine as the professional
version. Fast zooming, scrolling and panning. This freeware display
engine is better than many commercial imaging applications have.

2. It will open the same range of popular raster file formats as the
professional version: BMP, TIF, JPG, PNG and GIF.

3. Raster files can be saved as TIF and PNG, as well as BMP.

4. Improved Vector Extraction engine. No more 'crowded pixel'
messages.

5. Same new 'Vector->Scaling' as in the professional version. The
vector drawing is scaled automatically by default, or you can manual
specify your scale and drawing units. The drawing is no longer
output with negative Y-axis coordinates.

6. Same vector output file formats as the professional version: DXF,
SHP, MIF, WTX, WMF, EMF, XYZ.

7. Copy vector drawing to clipboard, for Pasting into another
applicaiton.

8. Extra image functions: Brightness, Contrast, Gamma correction.

9. Same Pen and Eraser tools as in the professional version, as well
as the Erase Area function, and the image Crop function.

10. Image rotation and mirror functions are included.

11. Same 'preview' images on the options windows as with the
professional version. Now you can select your options with
confidence.

12. And finally, it has the same new-look toolbars as the new
professional version.

This new freeware raster to vector converter is very fast and very
good. We are probably mad to let you have it for free!

(As with the previous freeware download, this will install the
freeware version and also the professional evaluation. The
professional evaluation adds very little to the overall download
size).
