Hello WinTopo Users

We are pleased announce the release of updates for both WinTopo Freeware and WinTopo Pro.

To benefit from the enhancements we recommend that you download the new installer from our web site at www.wintopo.com  (you can also download from the Files section at the User Group).

In addition to fixing all reported bugs, the following improvements have been included:

WinTopo Freeware 1.68 Enhancements:

  1. The Zoom function is improved so that the image will zoom in and out at the mouse position.

  2. Support added for loading the non-compliant JPG in TIFF file format used by microsoft's document image server application.

  3. Support added for loading and processing 16bit greyscale images.
WinTopo Pro 3.21 Enhancements:
  1. The license mechanism has been further enhanced to prevent the need to re-activate in the event of a hardware change. This is particularly relevant for laptop users, where the machine can de-activate various devices to save battery power.

  2. The Zoom function is improved so that the image will zoom in and out at the mouse position. This is particularly useful when using the scroll-wheel for zooming in and out of the image. The effect is more natural than the previous operation.

  3. Command line options added for saving the image in JPG file format, and for utilising the option to reduce the image resolution.

  4. Support added for loading the non-compliant JPG in TIFF file format used by microsoft's document image server application.

  5. Support added for loading and processing 16bit greyscale images.
Existing users of WinTopo Pro 3 can install this update over the top of their current installation - the existing license will continue to work.

Remember that if you ever find a bug or problem with the software then you should report it to us so that we can fix it. We are also pleased to get your suggestions for new functions.

I think that anything that helps to get an outline into GIS with minimal distortion would be great, especially when the printed projection is not known...
