I haven't been using this forum too much. The hard drive with the loaded
software took a dump more than a year ago, and have not been too fast at
transferring the software or reduced information off of it.
But, am having occasional problems now.
Working on some scanned drawings in TIF format, that are in range of 800K file
size to 4000K file size. I am using version 1.66 of WinTopo. Before hitting the
O-T button, I take a check via information to see if I had better walk away or
not. The computer I am working on is a 500 Mhz, with 256 RAM, and it indicates
OK, (need 209 meg. or something, so) go ahead.
It takes a while, but creates a DXF file. Well, most of one on occasion. No
matter the size of file, big or small, on occasion I will get an error message
near end of processing that the Memory of computer is out of range. Cannot save.
Only thing I can figure out to get around such an error message is to do one or
two reductions in the morning, when cool, and first off too. Then it processes
the same failed file as yesterday and completes it. But then too one seldom
occasion I get the same error message.
Do I need more RAM, is computer too old, or what?
