Yep, I see it. Looks like she could be wearing a bonnet or something.
But bear in mind the human mind loves to find patterns in the
random--think how easy it is to see faces in clouds and rock formations.
We're looking at a pixilated photo of a lace curtain at a distance. I'm
not saying there's nothing there. . . it's interesting but probably not
definitive.
Well spotted, though!

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has investigated at the I think Brownwood Inn on the
old mission peninsula by Traverse City?

I was curious if anybody has ever done a investigation here. It's in Moreland
twp. When I was in younger I would party down the road and at night when I would
go by it. It gave me a eerie feeling, could just have been because it was dark
and it was a cemetery that looked like it shouldnt be there, not kept up at all.
Only a few tombstones are still present and and alot of overgrowth. Maybe there
should be a investigation there.

I watched this video clip several times, more specifically I replayed 8:18
through 8:24 of the video several times, to try and determine whether it was an
apparition or just a shadow from someone in the room.

It appears that the "shadow" walks perpendicular to the camera (left to right),
not parallel (moving away from), which might indicate an apparition or someone's
shadow from behind the camera. (I believe that if it were parallel to the
doorway this may indicate a shadow from movement inside the room.) It does not
seem likely that it is from someone in that exact room. Also, the "shadow"
appears to be in front of the wood trim work to the left of the door, perhaps
indicating that it wasn't inside the room at all, but just outside of it. This
helps me to believe that it wasn't the shadow of a person in the room, but could
convince me that it was the shadow of someone behind the camera. However, when
the camera pans to behind the reporter, there is nothing there.

There are so many guesses here and it's difficult to analyze something from
YouTube. It would be much easier, of course, if one had the original footage to
work with. I would like to believe that it is the ghost of MJ, just as many
people like to believe that the ghost of Elvis still roams Graceland. I'm
curious what everyone else thinks.

(Let me just say that I am not an expert at this. This is just my guess from
watching this video many many times--meaning nearly 50.)

Thanks for welcoming me into the group (again) -- I'm sure I was a member
before.
I love everything haunted, everything spooky, and sincerely look forward
to reading everyone's posts and plugs.
I grew up reading horror mags, watching horror & supernatural films &
listening to rock & roll, and still see every genre film when it comes out.
Halloween is my favorite time of year (isn't it everyone's?).
I also organize theme tours -- some of you may have heard of the
"DraculaTour to Transylvania" or "GHOSTour." Well, I'm the guy who promotes and
hosts them! Maybe some of you will join me on a travel adventure sometime?! I
also write the Horror Happenings free online column for examiner.com.
If it's cool, I'll drop a line every now & then with updates on these
"vampire vacations" and haunted tours. If not, I'm sure you'll let me know (and
I'm cool with that too, just don't bump me!).
Once again, thanks again for velcoming me into this group.

watched the clip a couple times. I have to agree with the "real" shadow theory.
Was noticing that in other parts of the video there were several extraneous
persons in the background including outside the house. My theory is that it is
a shadow cast thru the windows and onto the wall from someone walking by
outside.

Ditto, TV uses lots of lights, even during the day. Go catch though for who
ever spotted it. I've got about eight hours of investigation video I'd like
them to look at.

Here's an abbreviated version of the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Am67-Sew7k Looks to me like the shadow cast
on the wall was reflected in the floor. I don't really see the "glow" moving.
It looks, to me anyway, that the wall, fireplace, and the shadow are reflected
in the floor which makes the shadow look really long. I think the glow you're
referring too is the yellow wall reflected and it does moderate as the shadow
passes. As for the shadow itself, who knows how many camera crews were set up
there that day. TV also uses lots of lights even on a sunny day sometimes even
outside to take away the harsh shadows cast by the sun, it also gives them more
exposure control. I'll keep looking at the video, and you should too, maybe
more information will come out and we'll learn something.

WMGHS Updates

WMGHS has had an incredible few months with investigations; so much so that we
are now backlogged! Everything is being completed as we speak and all updates
and any EVP/video evidence will be posted soon.

Public Ghost Hunt

WMGHS will be hosting another Public Ghost Hunt in Grand Rapids. If you have
been to our previous Public Ghost Hunts this year and last…yes, it's the same
location. This event is free of charge and anyone 18 and older may participate.
Information and how to reserve is listed below, as well as some additional
information.

Date: Saturday, September 26th
Time: 9:00pm - 1:00am
How to reserve: Email Nicole at: founder@... or
                  wmghsfounder@... .
You will need to state your name, how many people
will be attending, and give a contact phone number
                  (for cancellation notifications).

DO NOT reserve your spot by replying to this message
or posting your reservation on this discussion group!

Upon receiving your reservation, you will be given the location and directions
of the cemetery where the Public Ghost Hunt will take place.

At 10:30pm and again at midnight, we will meet in a mausoleum for an Audio
Session in hopes of capturing EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena).

Space is limited so email Nicole to join the "ghostly good fun!"

WMGHS Seminars

WMGHS has scheduled 8 seminars throughout the month of October in various
locations in Grand Rapids Libraries. The discussion will be "Michigan's Most
Haunted," and will be based on Nicole and Rob's Paranormal Michigan Book Series.
We will keep you posted as to the dates, times, and locations for each as soon
as they are confirmed.

WMGHS/Paranormal Michigan Book Series will also be teaming up with the Kalamazoo
Historic Ghost Walks this October. This is a charity event scheduled by the
Kalamazoo Jaycees every year. Stay tuned for information on dates, times, and
when the new book "Haunted History of Kalamazoo" will be for sale (portion of
proceeds also goes to the Jaycees' charity of choice), plus have your book
signed by one or both of the authors at the Ghost Walks.

Paranormal Michigan Book Series

WMGHS Founder Nicole Bray and EVP Specialist Robert DuShane teamed up to create
a growing book collection, Paranormal Michigan Book Series. The following books
are the first four in the Book Series installment, and more information can be
found on the Book Series website: http://www.paranormalmichigan.com

Paranormal Lansing released April 2009
Michigan's Haunted Nightlife released July 2009
Haunted History of Kalamazoo due for release in September 2009
Grand Rapids Most Haunted due for release in Spring 2011

Barnes & Nobles, Borders Books, and Amazon.com are all carriers of the
Paranormal Michigan Book Series. If they do not have it in stock, they can order
it for you.

WMGHS in the Media

WMGHS will be featured in the October issue of Grand Rapids Magazine as well as
an upcoming Grand Rapids Free Press article.

I just joined here since it's a MI Ghost Group.

A friend of mine when to Branch Michigan and captured a couple images on his
camera phone.

His reputation is pretty solid and is the only reason I don't think they are
fake.

I posted them on the TAPS forum and was bashed and dismissed pretty quick.

I don't like them anymore lol.

At any rate, from what my friend said, I guess there is some Federal land up
there where you can camp. Might be an area to check out some day.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Matt,
It doesn't matter day or night...like what else is there for them to do? :)
About being followed home, yep...its possbile. It happened to us one time out
with WMGHS. But that is not usual for most spirits, though. Actuall;y, Matt...it
is possible for a spirit to follow you home even when you go to your local mall
or grocery store. :)
How to honor the spirits? Well, don't smoke and drop your butts all over the
place! Keep things neat and tidy, etc. Keep the time you are there upbeat and
light. You might wish to play some different kinds of music...spirits like
music.
If you feel the need to speak, do it softly...use kind words. Leave any
sarcastic tones and ideas at home.
That pretty much covers it for the moment.
Which cemetery will you be going to? Our family may have been there...

I will be going to goodrich grave yard in romeo off of 37 mile rd and van dyke.
on north kidder near campground. Yeah i didnt think about the comment how they
could be any where and follow you home. The reason i asked that is that my wife
will not be going and like i said im new to this dont know much about it, I
would just hate to see something follow me home and mess with my wife when she
didnt even go in the first place. Have you been to this cemetary? do you or
anyone else know of a website that i could find potentially haunted places that
list where there are located at in michigan along with descriptions about why
people think they would be haunted?

Hi, I just joined this group and in a few weeks some friends and i will be going
to a cemetary that is reported to have actvity such as orbs and aparitions. I
want to know what is the best way to stay respectable to any and all things that
may be there but still try to get some pics. Does it matter what time of day you
go? Is it true that by going to places that have activities you can have spirits
follow you back to where ever you go from there? Any and all info would be
greatly appreicated

So post em here. We'll give you an honest opinion. I will tell you right up
front, when it comes to cell phone cameras, image size and quality are usually
working against you. The real trick is to reproduce them. If your guy is
solid, see if you can get back to where they were taken and figure it out. If
they're compelling enough I'll go with you, maybe we can get some other WMGHS
investigators to go along. Nobody ever takes me up on this, but if you really
want to try to figure it out ya gotta go back. Arguing over pixilated images on
the net doesn't advance anything.

No. There are so many different places to visit and all that right here in West
Michigan. No need to go to Romeo, etc.

Usually spirits don't follow you home. The one that did follow us home was
because he needed closure on some ideas and such before he did cross over.

Like I said, it is rare but it does happen. It has happened to us a few times.
But this is because we are a family of mediums. Even our children are mediums...

Sharon,

This is a real sorespot for my family. We have seen cases and situations where
people go out and they make fun of the names of the dead and really show a lack
of respect.

We believe to show respect, if you see something like dirt or trash around the
cemetery...pick it up, dispose of it. When I enter into a cemetary, I have to
ask permission to enter. I must state our reasons as to why we are there, that
we are not there to disturb anyone, etc. The usual stuff...sometimes I take
tobacco with us to offer tobacco in case that there may be a Native American
buired at the cemetery. If we feel that we have gained permission, we enter. If
not, we leave and don;t ever set foot in that cemetery until we can gain entry.

This might sound a bit extreme, but it is worth it. We have seen during the day
time, full body apparitions...we have spoken to them, etc.

One of these days I have to go back to Nunica and leave a special Macaw feather
from one of our macaws for a friend who is buried there. We will be leaving some
tobacco and maybe even bringing some sage for a special offering to God.

Blessings,
Al

Looks like you're already lots of good advice. Just remember the basics. Most
cemeteries close at dusk, check for signs. Watch your breath, it's getting to
be just like fall now. If you go during the day, something I'd like to do more
of, try some filters and a tripod. The IR pass filters give you a really cool
effect and may enhance some activity not seen with the naked eye. Heck a
polarizer might help too. If you're shooting digital crank the quality/size up
to as much as you can stand. Interesting things seldom happen close and center
frame. So when you down load to a computer you can zoom into areas of interest
without all the pixelation, we've all seen enough of that on the net. Good luck
and, shoot, shoot, shoot.

Hello, just thought I would introduce myself since I'm new here.

Actually my wife Sara and I have been ghosthunting since 2007 and have gotten
lots of EVP's and a few photographs of apparitions since then. We've also worked
with radio sweep techniques and got good results, nothing is as spooky as asking
if any spirits can tell me what my wife is holding then getting the correct
response.

We even got my family and now her mom and aunt interested in ghosthunting. My
wife's dad passed away on Nov. 17th, which was her birthday also, and we and her
mom have already recorded EVP's from him. I think it's really comforting for her
and her family to know that he's alright and no longer suffering. That's one of
the perks of ghosthunting, letting a grieving family know that their loved one
survived death and is okay.

Well, that's a little about us, tell a little about you and your group.

BTW, what are these public ghosthunts and how can we join one?

The public hunts usually happen at a cemetery in the Grand Rapids, sorry they
don't want us to make it public until you're scheduled. Basically we have the
run of the place and groups go off an try to get pictures and EVP. At he last
one we gathered in a couple of spots and put recorders, meters and flashlights
in the middle. Then we ask question and hope for some kind of response. We
didn't get any responses on any of my gear, except for the flash light, and I'm
not sure what to think about that device. We take a small maglite and twist the
lens to just short of turning on, if you tap the lite on the end it will flash,
but not come on. We have had a number of sessions where the lite "appears" to
come on in response to questions. Some have appeared to be very decisive most
not. And I haven't been able to get it to come on in my kitchen while I'm
working there. We did see some of that at the last public hunt. I've e-mailed
Maglite asking them if this was possible or common. Their customer service
department is great, but they were intent on fixing a problem not really
answering my question.

You mentioned radio sweep techniques, is that a variation on a Franks box/shack
hack or something similar?

Welcome aboard!

brad
