Opera has launched today their Opera Mini browser.

this is actually a WURFL success story. In order to keep Opera Mini from
crashing on the ugly and malformed markup you find in the wild, Opera
Mini needs to rely on a backend server to adapt the mark-up for the
specific device that requests the page.
As you can imagine, WURFL is the repository that Opera choose for the job.
I asked one of the Opera guys why they chose WURFL a few months back.
The answer was loud and clear:
"it's the only fucking thing that works!"
