I think the capability names shpuld be unique across groups.
This assumption would make parsing so much faster
and utilities so much easier to build...

This is actually how it is my local copy. I changed it a few weeks ago while
developing my PHP script, but never submitted to the list. Luca and Laszlo
already
have the updated version. New syntax is:
wap_push_support
downloadfun_support

Laters.

Bonjour,

It will be possible to embed WML tags directly in XHTML pages in the next
release of Wapaka (Wapaka is a browser based system for developing mobile
applications on PDAs). It will be done using a namespace to distinguish WML
tags.

What application would you like to write using GPRS with WML? :-)

GPRS comes under bearer network like GSM, CDMA..etc. and WAP is the
protocol used in mobiles...

GPRS protocol is for networks to operate the mobile
communications..(like making a call and data services like browsing in
mobile..)

WAP protocol resides in mobiles which communicates with these
networks(GPRS, GSM , CDMA...)..

Hope u got the point..

Best Regards
Balaji

Hello all,
	 I have a VERY simple form, but I have problems escaping variables with
kannel, I think.
Here is the wml:

<input type="password" name="pwd" title="Password" value=""/><br/>
       <do type="button" label="GO">
          <go
href="http://<hostname>/validateUser.php?usr=3351234&pwd=$(pwd)"/>
       </do>

Where usr is the phone number of the user. The strange thing is:
if I use $(pwd) works
if I use $(pwd:noesc) works
if I use $(pwd:esc) does NOT work

This was tested using kannel as a wapgateway. Latest developers build.
With UPLink V5.01 works properly.

Any idea? Other than that kannel doesn't work. ;)

I know you are beginer.

WAP is protocol and GPRS is wireless network technology like GSM but more fast.

WML is the programming language like HTML that is used to build WAP application.

GPRS is one of the best wireless network technology to pass WAP application.

I think you need to read the FAQ below!!!!!!!

You can't. Some browser automatically put the focus on the first input
element (e.g. Openwave), but others don't. If you prefer clicking the
primary key to scrolling, you could put text and input on separate
cards.

someone confirm that it displays color images while using the

The Samsung SGH-T100 is using the Opevnwave browser V5. I have registered 3
different agents:
	 SAMSUNG-SGH-T100/1.0 UP.Browser/5.0.1 (GUI)
	 SAMSUNG-SGH-T100/1.0 UP.Browser/5.0.1.7 (GUI)
	 SAMSUNG-SGH-T100/1.0 UP.Browser/5.0.3.490 (GUI)

You can find all these in the latest wurfl file, anyway. It can download
pictures,
wallpapers and screensavers. The format is BMP with a maximum of 4096 colors,
but it also has a limit of 1KB!!! The image width is 128 and the height 64, in
pixels.

I have no idea if it can display color BMP's even while browsing.

Laters,
	 Andrea

Hi All,

The max pdu figure can be quite misleading. Rarely does the max pdu
size reflect the true maximum wml deck size or maximum image size
(i've quickly checked pdu sizes claimed by manufacturers vs. the true
profiled size). Also Gateways often give incorrect accounts of the
maximum deck size - sometimes this information is inserted in htpp
headers. The best way to get device information for your programs is
to use the UbiquinoX(R) Device Query Java bean
http://udq.argogroup.com - this information comes *only* from
actively profiling devices day in and day out in our laboratories.

The one tested was:
HTTP_USER_AGENT = SAMSUNG-SGH-T100/1.0 UP.Browser/4.1.26c4

HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_SCREENPIXELS = 128,50
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_SOFTKEYSIZE = 6
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_IMMED_ALERT = 0
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_NUMSOFTKEYS = 2
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_CHARSET = utf-8
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_MAX_PDU = 8192
HTTP_X_UP_DEVCAP_SCREENCHARS = 18,5

As the max. pdu size is 8kb I am not sure that the logos are limited to only
1kb.

I was wondering if anybody could post their experiences developing
for the Samsung SGH-T100 (TFT GSM Handset). It's got color, but could
someone confirm that it displays color images while using the
Openwave Browser? Which version of the Openwave Browser is being used?

Hi,
Instead of writing the WML DTD Declaration using Response.write,
try placing the same
i,e
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN"
"http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/wml_1.1.xml">

just before the start of the <wml>Tag .
Hope it may work out.
I think the Browser is not able to identify the Corresponding DTD
Declaration.

Cheers,
Denson

It seems like a problem related to pdu size limit and image size limit has come
out
and I would like to see if anyone can clear my mind about this.

PDU size is the limit in bytes of the available memory for a page.

Let's say I have a wml page that, compiled is 1Kbyte and my phone has a PDU size
of 5Kbyte.
Is it correct to say that I will be able to insert images of a size up to
4Kbytes? If any
image or the sum of these exceeds the 5Kbytes, none or part of the images will
not
be loaded.

While testing Ericsson T68i phones that are supposed to support images up to
3200
bytes, I noticed that they never display images of sizes above 2820-2830 bytes.
I
was browsing through an UP.Link 5.01. I then tested my kannel gateway and images
could be a little bit bigger, like 2850-2860. My first idea has been that the
kannel
gateway compresses the wml with a higher rate.
Could anyone test the Ericsson with an Ericsson gateway, for example?

Can anyone give me more informations about this? Does anybody know the PDU
size of the T68i?

Regards,
	 Andrea
