Any new sources of interference in the area?  Microwaves, cordless phones, other wireless devices (yours or your neighbors)?  Also, fluorescent light seem to have an effect as well.  I recently swapped-out a bunch of incandescent bulbs in favor of the more energy efficient compact-fluorescents and have noticed more issues in those locations.  It really seems to screw with Bluetooth connections as well.

For some reason my router keeps dropping off the signal to my radios

setting my modem in "bridge mode", but that didn't resolve the problem.
The router in question is Linksys WRT54GX2/SRX200. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I'm going to be moving into a new home shortly so I will be changing my
ISP. I'm considering going completely wireless with Sprint's Wireless
Broadband and using it with the Linksys Mobile Broadband Router
(WRT54G3g). Are any members of this group using the WMLS11B with this
configuration? If so, I'd be interested in hearing your experiences.
I've really become attached to my WMLS11B's so I don't want to get
myself in a position where they won't work reliably.

TIA for your help.

Very cool, thanks for the post, and thanks to John for doing the work and making the document.

FYI, the link above didn't work for me, I had to go to Files section and download it from there.

A little background info . I purchased my wmls11b 6 or 8 months ago. I
updated the Bios to version 2.3.6 and it ran fine with trial
subscription. Slowly stations started not to connect. I guessed they
changed ip address?? I still had 2 or 3 stations that worked. So I
deceided to sign up for the subscription saw a link for a deal $19.95.
My Problem I can not update manually or automatic. Error message
update failed. I followed the instructions on this forums post>>>

Do you have the WMLS11B connected directly? If not, check "network"
to see the signal strength of the wireless connection.

Since you are a subscriber, you can contact linksysradio.com via web email:

Jim,

The Super Service station list will activate with your next update, whether manual or automatic, but since updating is where you're having trouble that'll have to be dealt with first.  If you don't hear from them today or tomorrow email them again in case your first note didn't get through; my experience is that they respond quickly but tech support might get weekends off for good behavior.  <s>

Hi everybody !

Thanks for all your posts and support in this forum, because of it i
have my WML11B working flawless, with itīs new firmware version 2.3.5
that i found here, i am getting all radio lists updates in no time!!

The only thing i cannot acces since firmware update is the web browser,
as everybody knows it will ask you for a username "admin" and
password "blank" or in some cases (my case) "admin" again, well they
did not work, i canīt pass through and offcurse canīt get in to the
deviceīs configuration web page, does anybody knows if this new
firmware has a different username and password?

by the way i saw a firmware named ver 2.3.6, but as i found no comments
about it, i choose to use the ver 2.3.5 that every body loves, even in
the linksys forum, any body try it yet?

Thanks and Best Regards

Luis

I am running 2.3.6 with no problems, but if 2.3.5 works well keep it.
Unfortunately there is a danger of your unit not working if the
firmware flash fails: Your WMLS11B will be turned into a "brick" -
just a paperweight - it won't work anymore if the firmware flash
fails, so keep it as you have it as long as it works - which is
standard firmware advice. If it works fine, don't flash the firmware!

In the FILES section of this group, you will find the Quick Install
Guide, Data Sheet, and User's Guide for the WMLS11B. The information
you seek is in the User's Guide.

Here is the link for the files section:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/wmls11b/files
What you want is:

Best wishes,

David Ring

The information that you are looking for is listed in the "Users
Guide" which is available in the files section of this group. The
information is in chapter 7 under the section "Log in". Please note
that due to unnumbered pages in the PDF, you have to go to a higher
page number in the PDF than in the printed booklet.

I hope this helps.

My son was having trouble with his internet connection. It seems that
when he performed ipconfig /release he was unable to renew. after alot
of trial and testing we found that he directly assigned an ip address
this got him on the network but not on the internet. He neglected to
specify a default gateway in tcp/ip configuration. That got him on the
web. After this I went to bed. When my head hit the pillow the wmls11b
problem popped into my head. Next thought maybe this is the problem .
I specified an ip address unchecked auto assign and specified a
default gateway and UP SHE WAS! All is well. Thanks to all for being
a sounding board and helping. Jim

That's what mine is and that's what's in the well indexed User's
Guide. So in case he didn't have one, I gave him the links to the one
on the Files section of this group, and I sent him the place on the
index in a private email. I hope he got the Users Guide first! It is
good to read the book if you have it :-)

I believe the acronym you are looking for is RTFM.  ;-)  Of course you actually need to have the manual in order to read it, but I believe it's on the CD.

Note that you need to use Firefox as the browser (not IE) if you want to edit the favorites through the WMLS11B web server.

The User's Manual, Data Sheet and Quick Start Guide are also in this
groups "Files" section for those who have no printed copies to read.
Just remember, the page numbers in PDF are lower than the one cited in
the index, so add about 5 pages to the PDF page, and you'll be very
close.

Are you using Microsoft Internet Explorer?  If so, try Firefox, which works better for this.

I am trying to set up a borrowed wmls11b, but running into one big
problem.

I use WEP encryption on my router. The password is in ASCII format.
However, the wmls11b wants me to enter the password in hex format. Is
there a way to convert from ASCII to hex. I've been doing some
searching, but the sites I've come across don't convert to any hex
that I'm familiar with (not that I'm that familiar with hex...), which
is to say the characters 0-9 and a-f. I'm also looked through a couple
of pdf files from this group, but haven't found a solution.

The unit works fine wired directly to the router, but I'd really like
to get it connected wirelessly. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi, Peter!

Here's a quick ASCII-Hex convertor: http://centricle.com/tools/ascii-hex/

Enter your ASCII key, make sure the convertor is in ASCII-to-Hex mode, and click Translate.  The Hex key will come back as 2-character groups separated by percent signs; just drop the percent signs to get the actual key.  For instance, "PaSsWoRd" converts to "%50%61%53%73%57%6f%52%64" which becomes "50615373576f5264" when you remove the % signs.

Note that each ASCII character becomes two Hex characters, and a Hex WEP key has to be either 10 or 26 characters, so your ASCII key will have to be either 5 or 13 characters long.  Also, Hex WEP keys usually have to start with 0x so in the example it would be entered as "0x50615373576f5264" on the WMLS11B (the 0x does not count as part of the 10 or 26 characters.).  It's possible the WMLS11B appends the 0x automatically, so if it doesn't work one way try the other.

I hope that helps!

Gary

Thanks for the site. I went there and followed your directions. The
unit accepted the hex number. It's connected to the network and has a
DHCP-generated IP address, but when I attempt to play a station, the
display sits on "Connecting." I'm not sure what the problem is, but
I'll play with the settings and hope I stumble across a solution. If
you have any ideas, they would be welcome. Again, thanks.
